Mastiff: Vet "killed" my baby
|
Posted Date: 2003-09-18 13:37:40 By: Becca
I took my healthy happy dog, named Disney to get spayed on Aug 21, 2003. I called that day at noon to see how she was doing. I was told she was still in surgery and doing fine, and to call at one. I did so. I was told she was waking up and doing good. I was told to call at three to see if and when I could take her home. I had errands to run that day so, instead of calling I stopped by. The doctor told me she was in surgery again and that Disney was in critical condition. In short, due to lack of space on this site, Disney bled to death because they wasted valuable time getting her on the "table" again. Also, the doctors performed surgery without any donor dogs or blood on hand. Please help me. (If you would like to hear the rest e-mail me)

Mastiff: rabies in dogs
|
Posted Date: 2003-04-10 04:02:31 By: nayakutty
Dear friend
I have a genuine doubt about rabies. I would like to know whether the dog, which has vaccinated antirabby, is safe from rabies. Some of the doctors told me we have to vaccinate again if the dog is bitten by a rabid animal. If it is so what is the use of antirabby vaccine.
Is the rabies is originated from the body of dogs itself, without contact of rabid animal, bats, or raccoons.
Some people say if vaccinated a dog antirabby, it will not show the symptoms of rabies though its affected rabies. Is it true?
Please reply

Mastiff: Silly Question...

Hi...I have what is probably a silly question for anyone knowledgeable in the mastiff family. What kind of dog is Hooch, from the movie with Tom Hanks, 'Turner & Hooch'? The closest I can tell is a Bullmastiff, but not quite for some reason. Is he some kind of weird cross? Either way he's adorable =) Thanks! |

|
Posted Date: 2001-07-10 13:08:45 By: Kingsman
Just wanted to say Hello and introduce myself. The name is Kingsman and I live in Northern Virginia and participate in Mastiff Rescue. I've been owned by 3 male Mastiffs and 2 female Mastiffs over the course of the last 8 years. Lost my first boy to epilepsy, 2nd to a divorce and he was a shy/aggressive dog, my current boy is below standard with issues of his own. My first girl was put down at the age of 13 months due to abuse before I got her and she attacked me, my 2nd girl is only 7 months old and a Rescue pup.
I'm quite knowledgable on this breed and if I don't know the answer, chances are I know someone who does. So feel free to ask away.
Take care and good luck..

Gypsy is a very handsome 3 year old black female Neapolitan (Italian) Mastiff. She weighs
100 pounds, has been neutered, and has good eyes and hips. Gypsy can be described
as “shy” and is protective arround strangers.
I adopted Gypsy from a local shelter when she was less than 1 years old. The reason
I am looking to place her is because she suffers from separation anxiety and I am
away from home all day at work.
An ideal home for her would be one where her owner is present most of the time and
able to work with her to build her confidence. Gypsy is loving and affectionate and
will make a great pet for the right person.

Our two year old mastiff is very shy with strangers, especially men. Lately, he has even wet the floor if a stranger approaches him. He does not react aggressively or even at all unless someone wants to pet him. We think a stranger did something once when we had him camping and that was the start of it. In all other ways he is great. How to help this?? |

Zeus is a 9 yr old mastiff. He was rescued years ago, along with another mastiff, Anna, by my friend Kev. Zeus has osteoarthritis and the vet reckons he has 3 months left as conventional medicine has reached the limit. Zeus is a good ol boy; a friend to my two Lhasa Apsos and Rottweiler. Kev loves him and wants to do all he can to keep the old feller going. Anyone got any ideas re alternative medicine or anything else that might help? |

Is the silver fawn color the regular fawn color in a mastiff? I know there is fawn, apricot, and brindle. Is the fawn the "silver fawn"?
If it is, then I would like to know the color of a bull mastiff I have seen who was fawn but his face was more of a silver. It was washed-out looking. I would have thought that this was a silver fawn. I am told, though, that a fawn is a silver fawn.
Someone please clarfiy this for me!
Thanks,

Its natural for a puppy to play rough. The only thing you can do to get it to stop is be consistant with punishment. Dont get on to him one time but let it go the next or hell never learn its wrong. Dont let anyone play rough with him or thats what hell think is expected of him. |
