New but Serious and Keen

I have recently gathered information on the GSMDs and of course like all of you, I have become intrigued by this beautiful and yet wholesome breed. I would like very much to own one of these fine dogs in the near future. However, I wouldn't be able to purchase and give the required love to this kind of breed until I finish college which will be in two years. Until then I plan to research more about GSMD. Do you think it might be too soon to start talking to some breeders? I'm definitely willingly to take the time (since I have plenty of it)to find the right dog.
