I have been disabled for 2 years at age 34. I have been researching and believe a Swissie would be a perfect help companion and work companion. Is there any program in place for adoption or training for such purpose? I was breeding dogs until it got too much, but my child is studing to be a vet and it would be awsom to get help from a dog and also help breed a fantastic dog. Please reply.
Generally Swissies are not used for service dogs, due to the short life span. It is not unusual for them to pass on from natural causes at age 8. Given the amount of training time it takes for service dogs, most training organizations feel its not worth it.
