I currently am going through acute severe kidney failure with my 5 year old Gordon Setter. It started as a urinary tract infection which was treated with a potent antibiotic but did not clear and our dog started to have bloody urine. We started her on different antibiotics and she could not keep anything down. They started her on IV fluids along with IV antibiotics but nothing has seemed to help get the kidneys working again. I am afraid I will have to put her to sleep. This all began about 2 weeks ago. I dont know if this is common, but I have great faith in my vet and know he is doing all that is humanly possible.
I feel a great loss for anyone who has had to go through this with a young dog. There is nothing to be done but watch and wait and give love. |
