Golden Retriever: Golden retriever with a small black patch of fur on hip
|

I have a male and female golden with papers who had 11 pups 6 mos ago. I now have someone claiming that one of the pups that he bought from me has a black patch of fur on it's hip. He is claiming that that means that the pup is a mixed breed. He thinks that another dog bred my female. I really don't think so. Does anybody know if this can happen even if both parents are truly goldens? I have read that it is a fault in the line, but that the puppy would still be golden. If anyone has more info on this I would love th hear from you.

Hello everyone,
New here. My wife and I just bought out first Golden. My wife has grown up with them and I have grown up with other dogs.
We bought our beautiful Golden tuesday evening (10/28). She is 9 weeks old and a doll. We are crate training and she took to the crate the first night, she loves it. Tuesday and Wednesday night she slept from 9pm until 4:45am. We were AMAZED! Thursday night she slept from 9pm until 11:45, then had to go outside and then again from 12 until 4:45am.
Now, Friday and Saturday night she has been up pretty much all night. Whining, barking, etc. We take her out and sometimes she goes and sometimes she doesnt.
She seems to have some energy during the day, but not alot. All she wants to do is sleep and we cant keep her up. Shes a very mild puppy and LOVES to cuddle.
Any suggestions on what we should do? We keep the crate in the kitchen. The only thing that changed from Thrusday to Friday was my wife and I both worked that day. So my mom came and let her out of the crate 3 times that day. (I left at 8, mom came at 10, 12, and 2, and my wife was home at 4).
I love the pup but I\'m getting tired.....
Thanks in advance!

Golden Retriever: Behavior changes in 10 yr old Golden
|

I have started to notice some changes in the behavior of our 10 yr old golden. She seems to sleep or lay almost all the time. She doesn\'t even get up if someone comes over. She doesn\'t seem to like her favorite treats anymore, even thought she still stands by the treat cupboard everytime she comes in from outside. She looks at them likes she doesn\'t know what they are and drops them on the floor. When she comes to the door to be let in, she just stands there now. She just looks at us and has to be coaxed in. At bedtime, when we want her to go out, she just ignores us and won\'t get up. A week ago I tried to get her up and for the first time ever, I thought she might snap at me. She has also had a few accidents in the house. Very unlike her! She has also stopped coming upstairs to sleep with us at night. She checked out fine at the vets in September. Is she just aging or do you think it could be something else? |
Golden Retriever: Eating grass

We have a golden retriever that is about 7 years and she is spoiled rotten of course. We are concerned that when she is not feeling well she constantly is wanting to go outside day or night. Thats not a problem except all she wants to do is eat grass. She eats it like their is no tommorrow. We jokingly call her a billy goat. Is there anybody that knows what this is all about. If you could please reply to this crazy behavior we would greatly appreicate it. My e-mail is ChriaDL@ymail.com |

We have a beautiful light colored golden retriever. She is 9 months old. We got her from a breeder when she was 6 months old. We are having some difficulty in housetraining her. When she is in her crate she is perfectly fine. When we take her out of the crate, we immediately take her outside and she does her business. But maybe an hour or two later, she just pees on the carpet (always in another room). She is beautiful and we love her, but my husband is now ready to give her away. Please help |
Golden Retriever: Surgery for Amber
|

My mom has a 9 year old golden who has been diagnosed with a malignancy called a soft tissue sarcoma. Amber(the golden), has had surgery to remove the tumor. Now that the biopsy has come back positive for cancer, they want her to go through one more surgery to remove more tissue from the surrounding area to hope that they can be sure they get all the cancer cells. The problem is the cost of this surgery. She is still like a puppy. She loves playing with her toys and going for walks. Amber means so much to my mother and I am hoping to find some help. Do any of you know of an organization that can help us with the cost? The surgery is estimated to cost $2,500-$3,000. We were prepared for $1,000. |

Golden Retriever: Most disgusting golden breeder on the Earth!

I decided to buy a golden from cutegoldenpups.com. Well, I sent the money order in the mail at night. AT THE SAME NIGHT, my husband arrived from work and got sent home. My husband emailed Ted Townsend immediately begging him not to deposit the money on the day after (the litter would be born one almost one year after we sent the deposit; can you imagine?). My husband explained he had a family to support and could not afford to spend 4 thousand dollars on a dog at that particular time. Mr.Townsend did not care AT ALL; he just sent it was in the contract that once the deposit is done that is no way back. WELL, THE DEPOSIT WAS NOT DONE YET, IT WAS IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!!!!! THE DOG WOULD BE BORN AROUND 10 MONTHS AFTER THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE NEVER RETURNED US THE 1 THOUSAND DOLLARS WE HAD SENT TO HIM AND THAT\'S IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT A BREEDER THAT HATES PEOPLE???? THAT CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAD TO PUT FOOD IN OUR SON\'S PLATE AND TAKE CARE OF OUR OTHER 3 DOGS???????
REMEMBER: CUTEGOLDENPUPS.COM, MR.TED TOWNSEND. NOT HUMAN LIKE BEHAVIOR... UNBELIEAVABLE! I WOULD NEVER IMAGINE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE HW WOULD DO THAT AFTER MY HUSBAND EMAILED HIM, CRYING. HE SEEMED TO BE SO GREAT ON OUR PHONE CONVERSATIONS... ISN\'T IT MORE THAN UNBELIEAVABLE? IT\'S INSANE! IT\'S MEAN, IT\'S JUST CARING ABOUT HIMSELF, IT\'S JUST CARING ABOUT BEING RICH (HE IS ALREADY RICH, VERY RICH, BY THE WAY), IT JUST DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE WAY I AM. I WOULD NEVER DO SUCH THING TO ANYONE, ESPECIALLY TO A FAMILY THAT HAS JUST LOST THEIR INCOME... SPREAD THE NEWS, PLEASE. |

Golden Retriever: Skin issues
|

My 4yo golden retriever has had constant skin problems since we moved to this condo 2 years ago. His fur is dry, brittle and comes out in clumps along his back. His skin is incredibly dry and crusty and smells bad. We\\\'ve taken him to 3 vets who have tried cortisone shots, prednisone, antibiotics, allergy meds, and fish oil. We\'ve changed his food to a specialty Bison and Venison blend and nothing has helped. We did notice that when we were vacationing in Canada for 10 days, his condition improved, somewhat. He seemed to have more energy and his fur seemed thicker and shinier. I\'m lost...is it allergies? something systemic? I can\'t stand seeing his so uncomfortable. Thanks |

Golden Retriever: Left outside!!

My friend got a golden puppy a few months ago, I did not realize this but they put her outside in a kennel at 8 weeks old, she is now 5 months old and has always been in a kennel, there is a top shade but no protection on the sides of this kennel and they have a dog house with no padding or anything. Is it OK to keep a dog outside like this year round? They live in Northern Oklahoma. |
