Breed standard (A.K.C.)for a female GSP is 45 to 60 lbs. Even though she might be big and muscular she is most likely still overweight. Does she have a visible stomach, which would be protruding from the sides when viewed from either the front or her rear? There should be some "tuck" to her stomach. Can you see the outline of the ribcage? You should be able to see the ribcage, but not be able to count the ribs. In generel is she as active and quick and energenec as a shorthair should be? And can she "go" for a long period of time or does she wear down and slow after a much too short period? Shorthairs are athletes, they should look and perform like one! Also if she really is just an anomoly as far as shorthairs go,no matter how good of a dog she might be or how much you love her,PLEASE DON"T BREED HER! WE GSP guys are having enough of a time these days dealing with BLACK GSP's, and too much pointer blood,as well as the usual genetic problems. |
