Flat-Coated Retriever: Choices
|

I have a friend who is now in the process of getting a dog. She and her parents have narrowed down their choices to most likely getting a FCR. Do you think this would be a good choice? They have had a dog before, and currently have a cat, and a parakeet. They are planning to keep her inside. Also she read they are hard to find and she wants to get her dog from a rescue place/ good breeder. We havent found anything in our area yet. She was hoping to get it while school is out, but now may not get it until next summer. Does any one have any suggestions about where to find good pups or rescue places besides this site? Thanks!

Seven years ago I was given a beautiful puppy by a women who just didt have very much patience. She had named him Bingo and it had stuck. Bingo was more active and enjoyable than I had ever imagined a companion could be. He got along extremely well with our 3 year old lab Shadow. It wasnt until Bingo got nosey and ran off that I discovered the wonderful breed he was. He had gotten picked up by the doggie police and they informed me. Bingo became my best friend. He loved me almost as much as I loved him. He was just like a child to me. Last month Bingo died of kidney failure much to my surprise. It was the most horrible thing I had ever experienced. He was incredible. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was full of life up until he died. He was 7 years old. I loved him very much. I have read the message board and seen that there are several people looking for one of this wonderful dogs. I have tried several of the avenues to look for one myself but to no avail. I like some of t |

I am A Golden Breeder and AKC Judge and I am reasearching Golden Pedigrees. In doing so I came across a Flat -Coated Retriever Sire. I need to finish the pedigree and I believe this dog was in the United Kingdom, in 1900. Thae dam is also possiable a Flat.. Is there a data bank for pedigrees? That your club maintains? Or a book with just pedigrees dating back that far to the begining of the breed?thanks Ginny |

Anyone out there from Ohio who wants to have a get-together with their FCRs. I would be happy to host the event. Will make all arrangements and advise of costs. Will choose central area in OH predicated on number of responses and your location. My 7 year old FCR, Alex, would like some playmates. I thought of contacting the National? orginization for guidelines. But more important it would be an informal gathering of people who love thei dogs. |
