Disc rupture

My cocker ruptured a disc. The vet suggestions to immobilze him in a crate for a month. Or there was surgery that could be done, hes in terrible pain, thought the drugs do seem to help. I hate to see him this way. Has anyone had disc surgery on there cocker. PLease email me!
