Is a Dobe for me?

Hi, I intend on getting a Dobe, but i wanna know if this is the dog for me. I need a dog that is very very loyal to me, and friendly around a select few people. A dog that will go on hikes with me, occassionally hunt with me, and is very clever and athletic. I would Love to hear any advice you may have for me. Thanks.
