Illness

I have three dachshunds. One is 6 years old and has been gaining weight for about a year. He is now up to 38#s. He drinks water heavily and urinates often and is very hesitant to even get up. He is always hungry. He has been tested for cushings disease and various others but nothing seems to be wrong. In the last two weeks he has been losing his eyesight and smell. The vet has decided to begin treatment for cushings because he is deteriorating so quickly. We will also travel to the teaching college, again, for a cat-scan to look for a tumor. We and the Vet are down to the last explorable options. I need to hear from anyone who has experienced these symtoms in their dog.The doctors have semi ruled out petuitary, adrenal glands and no organs seem to be diseased. I would appreciate any feedback. it sounds like he might be becoming a diabetic a friend of ours that breeds dachshunds had this happen to one of hers and sounds like the same signs i'm not a vet just passing on the info hope he gets well /better soon good luck joyce
