I recently was looking for an Akita to rescue and was very disappointed to find out that my area does not have
an Akita rescue. I live in the St. Louis area. I was lucky to talk to one of the rescues in Kansas and they told me
about some that were at the Humane Society in St. Louis but I was really surprised at how few rescues there were.
If I was not a full time working mother I would consider starting my own rescue but I dont have the time that would
be required for that. I do want to say that I love my 4 year old female Akita that I rescued from the humane society.
We are still working on some problems because she was taken from a breeder who had 12 dogs taken from
them for not being taken care of. She did not even know how to get in a car, go down steps, chase a ball
or a stick but she is quickly learning the fun of a family. She is even wonderful with my 2 year old daughter. She
just is not too sure of anyone besides us being in the house. When company co |
