Rough Collie: How do I find out the bloodlin

Hi does anyone know thwe steps I can take to show Lilly the collie I rescued. I don't know anything about her history due to the fact that a trucker dumped her at a bussiness and then the people called us to come and get her. She is for sure a pure bred collie. And all joking aside she looks exactly like she just came off of a lassie movie. |

Rough Collie: Looking for collie pup

Hi everyone! Me and my family are looking for a collie puppy/rough/sable. we would like a puppy that is 8 to 12 weeks old and perferably female. we live in Thousand Oaks, California in the USA. We have had one collie before but last year we had to put her to sleep because of old age. we are now looking for a new very sweet collie and u can be sure that the puppy would be going to a good home because there are 2 kids in our family (9 and 11) and both dog lovers! if you have any information on breeders in the Thousand Oaks area or from anywhere around, (preferably up to 3 hours(driving) away) please e-mail me at crazy_kidd765@yahoo.com
thanx!

I have a 4-month old rough collie. I would like to know what type of training collar is best for this breed. I just started using a nylon two-ring choker and his hair gets caught in it. I was thinking of getting a Volhard collar or is a metal link choker better for a breed like this with the long hair? |

If anyone knows of any breeders please let me know. Thanks ~Nicole |
Rough Collie: illegal sex club
|
Posted Date: 2003-02-18 21:31:10 By: sparrow2003
ozzy osbourne involved with secret sex club?
ozzy osbourne is involved with a secret illegal sex club ring that involves the pushing of innocent women into sex and maybe even exploitation of young girls (as young as twelve years old) with the use of illegal implantation of transmitters by the (cia) government to use hypnosis and even torture to persuade women to exploit themselves and/or have sex with them.
this sex ring is not only immoral but they also endanger the health and lives of these women until they give in or become fat and unhealthy. they use many different methods of torture, such as putting them in pain, causing phony asthma attacks, ruining their skin, and interfering with their normal routine in life, ensuring failure at these women's endeavors. he tells the women afterwards, even if they have been tortured, humiliated and brutally treated for as long as twenty years, that he doesn't give a crap and they even threaten them with medical problems as serious as heart attacks. all because these women have been raised well enough that they will not give in to being prostitutes for the rich and beligerent famous.
their excuse for this is that they are to old to infatuate too many good looking women and they want to use the transmitters to fool the women into thinking they are in love with them because they don't want women that are just going to have sex with them for their money.

I am doing a project for school on dog intelligence, and thought it would be a good idea to include results form a test of my own, and to see if my results of different breed intelligence match what the experts say. It is a 70 question multiple choice test, and I was wondering if anyone would not mind taking a few minuets and taking the test about their dogs. Just emal me at spoonz28@hotmail.com and I would be glad to give you the test. Thanks, Danielle

The breeder we are buying our collie from has told us that we should ask the vet to leave one ovary intact to help prevent urinary incontinence. The collie is a 3 yr. old female who has never been bred. We would like to spay her but are concerned for her long term health. The breeder tells me that she will become incontinent if a standard spay job is done. We are unsure of how to proceed- does anyone out there have experience with this? |

Rough Collie: Some good news!!!!!

Posted Date: 2001-08-24 14:25:50 By: Collie3
Well I finally got me a rough mahogany sable female show prospect!
I just brought her home LATE Sunday night.... Ben, Pennie (the sable girl) and I didn't get back home till 1am...lol
I got her from a breeder friend of mine that lives about 40 minutes south east of me. She did not breed this dog, but she got this dog as 2nd pick of the litter born last year. She was born August 20th 2000, so she just turned 1yr old. She is NORMAL EYED! and as she gets older should be a nice mahogany sable!
Her sire is Ch. Twin Acres Blockbuster (Ch. Twin Acres Deliverance ROM X Highcroft Twin Acres Obsession ROM) and her dam is a rough sable Vennessee bitch......and She is marked just like her sire, Buster is. (I saw Buster for the first time about 4 or so years ago, and then again at the nationals this past April)
Ben went down with me when I went to get Pennie because this friend of mine hasn't seen him since he was a baby... just after the nationals..... Ben is now 50 some pounds (I need to get him weighed soon) and almost 7 months old, and about 24 1/2 going on 25" inches tall at the shoulders!! He is getting BIG and it looks like his first AKC dog show will be Sunday Sept. 16th. He and some of his "Tomelle" relatives will be there!

(I did not really try to upload "whatever.jpg" LOL That's just an example.) Why does it say that? How can I upload my JPEG files??? ~ Alicia |

Hello,
Well Emily, the mother of my new pup, had two tri males! I heard they were gorgeous but hey are not what I want. I have to wait until July 12 to see if Rachel, a sable girl has pups. Her reg. name is Cherokee Rose On Golden Pond. She is gorgeous but I am going to have to see if she has a female.
I could also wait and see when a sable headed white female goes into heat and see what she has.
I know I'm being a little stubborn but I want a female to show. Prefably a tri-factored sable. I am going to see the pups in a few weeks and I might get one but I have my heart set and would like to see what the next litter has.
Just wanted to tell you guys the news!

Ok... so this has nothing to do with my dogs, but does have something to do with dogs very closely related to Ben, or dogs owned by a breeder friend of mine...
5/19/2001 - St. Clairsville, OH
Tomelle's Moonlit Summer Nite AKA "Ring" took first in his class - Smooth open dogs, and winners dog. for 2 points. Ring is Ben's uncle, he is a litter mate to Ben's dam, Abby.
5/20/2001 - St. Clairsville, OH
Tomelle's Blue Moon aka "Travis" took first in his class - smooth puppy 6-9 months, and winners dog for 2 points. Travis is the son of "Ring" and out of a Bolyn's Movin' On up daughter - half sister to Ring.
Other results:
Travis' sister Angie - Tomelle's Painted Angel a rough blue, got 2nd in her class both days. Twin Acres Sylvan Visionary aka "Connor" got first in his class - Open sable and white dogs, both days, and North Country Blue Thunder (Owned by another friend) got first in his class both days - open rough blue dogs, and winners dog both days for 1 pt each day.
Way to go Ring, Travis, Angie, Connor, and Thunder!!!!
Ok, I'm done now LOL TTYL |

Well I got off from work early enough today that I went home, tossed the crate in the car, and Ben and I headed up to conformation classes. This was the first time Ben has really done conformation training....I haven't done much of anything with him before tonight, and he did so well at the classes. He is MUCH calmer than Timmy ever was!! and Ben is baiting pretty well already... he is so into the food he will stand right in front of me, looking up at me waiting for the food... he will stack his front feet up pretty well already, but his back feet not to well right now....he also does well on a loose leash.
The lady that was teaching the classes said for a pup of his age (going on 4 months) and for this being his first time really doing any conf. he was doing very well... oh and he is afraid of nothing, and just loves being around the dogs and people noise, so I gotta feeling he'll be a really fun dog to work with!!
Just wanted to post a message about it LOL

Hi,
I was wondering how full registration works. I know when you give full reg. out the owner can breed the dog but could you put a dog on limited reg. and then when the dog ch/points let he/she go on to full reg? I have heard that some people did this and I wasn't sure if they were correct. If you have any info let me know.

Rough Collie: Barking

|
Posted Date: 2001-05-13 18:18:12 By: Collie3
Ok, I need some ideas on how to shut Magic up when she is outside! Ok, lets see if I can explain this. I have a large fenced area for the dogs to be in and play in while they are outside - they don't live outside! Whenever Magic is outside she barks at anything, and everything.. it doesn't matter... it could be a bird flying above her, to a rabbit running in the field, or the dog 2 houses down, or just a noise she hears... and she starts barking like crazy and won't stop! I don't believe its because she is bored either, because she will be running around, playing and chases the other dogs, and then all the sudden stop and bark her head off...its getting really annoying now, cause she doesn't do it when I am outside with her.. or if she does I say "NO" and she stops. When I am in the house, the only way to stop her is going up to the pen, and by the time I get to the pen she stopped, so there is nothing I can really do about it. I didn't really like the idea of the shock barking collars, because we use to have one of those underground fences, she would probably think she was getting shocked because of that.... my mom is ready to have her de-barked!! which I don't like the idea of either.... although A LOT of the dogs on her pedigree are de-barked....hmmm do I see a pattern???? LOL Anyway, it probably isn't a hard thing to fix.. but would like some ideas... she is just so alert, everything catches her attention, she will be asleep, then all the sudden jump up barking, or playing with the pup and then run to the other side of the pen and start barking....LOL but she loves to be outside! so I hate to just keep her inside most the time. BTW she is only 3 1/2 yrs old. |

Rosie,
There are a lot of really good breeders in PA. You need to know when to look and where, and you can not rush finding a really nice pup. Actually a well bred pup is going to end up costing you A LOT more then a rescued adult.
People in rescue ask $150 to cover the vet cost and grooming and other care on these dogs as most come in in terrible condition. Actually $150 doesn't even cover most of the cost to get them in shape. The smallest amount I have personally spent on a rescue for medical care and grooming was $187 and that didn't cover the food, training, and care I give her for 7 weeks while I had her. The MOST I had into a rescue was mother and son. It took $870 to get them healthy and I took $200 for the BOTH of them because the same family was willing to take both of them and keep them together (which is rare!).

Just a quick question really.
I was just wondering what the best age to test for vWB was? I have been told by some people that it is best to test before 6 months of age to get the best result. I was just wondering if there was any truth to that?
Haven't been able to get any answer anywhere else, just wanting to know for future reference.
thanks |

Please advise me...my 12 yr. old fe. rough tricolor had to be put to sleep last night. Were all in mourning and to help the children (and myself) Im buying another rough tricolor female. Im also going to see a rough all white male tomorrow for possibly buying and eventually breeding with the new pup. The breeder told me the white collies are rare and under what conditions we could have tricolor pups as well as white. It sounds beautiful, but are they desirable in the market? Will I be able to sell them if they are bred with a champion line tricolor female? Ive never seen an all white male and need help! Thank you!!!

Hi. Ive just found this message board after being a "collie person" all my life. We have a collie whos recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. We tried chemo, but after a couple of weeks she stopped eating and started vomiting. Currently we are just doing Prednisone. Misty is 10 and I know we wont have forever, but were hoping we can buy some quality time, at least. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any advice

Hi, I have an 8 month old male collie puppy. Just a weird question...He is so "doofy". I dont know how to explain it...other than I joke he must be retarted. examples...hell grab something out of the garbage, I take it, tap him on the nose and say "no" and put it back in the trash and he will go and get it 2-3 more times. I have this little plant stand...He sees it and get excited, hell start wagging his tail and then tape it with his nose and tip it over...he does this over and over agian....the other night he did it and I left it laying down and he barked and walked away like he had concord it! Is this normal for a puppy (collie)? I keep saying hell grow out of it...Will he!!!! Thank you for any help! |

Rough Collie: Best flea control you can buy

I used to take care of animals for a living, but I am getting out of the business. I had purchased a significant amount of Advantage and Frontline for both Dogs and CAts. The ADvantage is a superb product that kills 98-100% of ALL fleas within 12hrs!!! the frontline is another excellent product that also kills not only fleas but ticks. The package of advantage is good for 4 applications whereas the frontline is good for 3. Im selling the packages for $20. Please if youre interested, dont hesitate to email me. Thank you.

Hi,
I just wanted to know if anybody out there knows the leash laws governing doggie doo doo?
I am a responsible dog owner that picks up after her dog. My dog has a fenced yard and does most of her business there. However, as you all know, when a dog gets taken for a walk, some tend to get a bit excited and even though they have already "gone" in the yard they have to go again.
Realizing this, I always carry pick-up bags in my leash saddle bag. This evening, while walking down the sidewalk on lead, my collie/sheltie cross girl just had to go RIGHT ON SOMEONES FRONT LAWN !!! (BOO BOO !!) Also, it had to be at the EXACT MOMENT that the homeowner was pulling up from behind me in his car. Well, I was in the meantime trying to pull her out of the yard to no avail. I immediately whipped out my bags and the man was ranting and raving that he was going to call the police if he ever "caught me or my dog on his property" etc..... I calmly said, "Sir, I am going to |

My collie is an 8 year male sable and white. For those of you who may remember, he was the collie I had trouble with getting him used to my house. I finally did and having him living with me again has been wonderful. Anyway... about 2 years ago, I found a flesh colored lump on the side of his neck, the size of a grape, I took him to the vet and it was removed. They told me it was a form of breast cancer even though it came from his neck and that some of the cancer cells may have escaped into the bloodstream. They told me if the cancer came back, it would likely come back in the lungs and I was to monitor him by checking him for lumps and getting chest x-rays done every 4 months to see if it came back. Six months went by with good results. Three months ago, a 9 mm "tumor" appeared on one of the scans. The vet told me she could not tell me if it was an actually "tumor", it may be a shadow of a bone and to have a radiologist look at them. I did and they said they could not tell e |

Rough Collie: Collie or Golden Retriever for my family?
(1 Responses)

Hi all. I am in the process of deciding if I want to purchase a rough collie or a golden retriever for my familys pet. I am a
childcare provider in my home and care for approximately 10 children a day (including my own 4) so the pet would be around young
children ages 5 and under on a daily basis. On the other hand, I hear that Collies are very protective and also quite unusually helpful
to children. My reason for this curiosity is that I have a 9-year old child with the disability known as "spina bifida," and even though he
is ableto get around by himself at this point, its very difficult. He also suffers from seizures from time to time. My family has a lot of
love and just cant decide which puppy is right for our family. Can any of you offer any suggestions for me? Also, I notice that there is a short
supply of breeders for Collies. I live in the Baltimore area of Maryland but am willing to go to PA or DE for a good breeder of either. Thanks. |

have a question, at what age, or by what age do you expect a male collie pups testicles to both have dropped? Is a 3 month old with only 1 testicle so far a lost cause or could it still drop?
Thanks |
