black/brown discharge! help!!!

hi all, my female chi just mated successfully with another chi about a week ago, but since then, we found a very small amount of black discharge from her vagina every other day; and we're taking about a really small amount. we suspect it is blood clot, but if it is, what causes it? my chi doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort; has anyone seen this before??? thx in advance! al
