Hi Jonathan,
I remember wanting a dog so bad I could die! I didnt want to wait for the "right" dog, I just wanted a dog. I ended up with a little dog that was totally wrong for me and it wasnt at all what I expected.
Now that I have grown up, I realize there is a lot more to having a dog than just having a playmate or a companion. I would really recommend you check out the book called "The Right Dog for You" - you should be able to get it at the library. You and your parents should take the tests that are in the book. When you are all done, it will point you to the right couple of breeds for you and your family. Then you can begin looking for a dog from a good breeder.
A dog is a commitment of at least 10-12 years. By the time this dog dies, you will have finished high school, gone on to college (hopefully), finished college, and either be almost done with a masters degree or out working. What will you do with the dog when you are at college? You cant take |
