I have an 8yr old Carin and I cannot get him to stop urinating in my house. He has been house trained and he will ask to go outside by coming up to me and whining a bit and he also sleeps in our room at night and once in a while if he has to go out he will wake us up to let him out, but during the day he will randomly pea in all different areas. I just do not understand, he knows he is suppose to go outside so why is he urinating in my house. He gets walks and is played with so he is not ignored. I work part-time and now when I go to work I put him in a cage and he is let out when I get home. I try to watch him as much as possible, he moves from room to room with me and me and I will get busy doing something and not be watching him and he will pea. Please does anyone have any advice? My husband wants him gone and I cannot give him to someone when he has this issue. I am desperate!

my 3 year old female has been licking her 2 front paws alot and staring at them like there is something on her. then she runs around chasing her tail...she looks rather crazy.

she is on frontline and i had her checked out at the vet, but they couldnt find anything wrong. i dont see any bites on her and shes indoors most of the day with me. oh also shes been hiding under my bed alot. her appetite and personality is the same just this crazy paw thing..she looks neurotic....anyone have any ideas what it could be????

If you want his coat to stsy nice do NOT have him cut. If you have him clippered his coat will become soft and not so waterproof. Find a groomer to strip him OR you can do it yourself.

My 15 year old cairn (Skean Dhu) passed away this past Sunday, leaving my family and our youngest cairn (McKenzie) to mourn his loss. As hurt as we all are, our primary concern right now is helping McKenzie get through the mourning process. Consequently, we are looking to get another cairn. Being a military family, we are scheduled to move to Hawaii in the Dec/Jan timeframe. Quarentine laws mandate that a dog must be 12 months of age to qualify for the short quarentine stay. As a result, we are looking for a cairn who is about 6 months of age, is a pure breed, and is registered. We are also interested in learning whether or not there are any cairn breeders in Hawaii that someone may be aware of since this site does not list any. Thanks to anyone who may have some information.

For those of you that cant find a Cairn breeder, the best advice I can give you is to contact Christine Bowlus, the secretary of the Cairn Terrier Club of America. She will send you a list of CTCA member/breeders in your geographical area. Her e-mail is: cairns@ismi.net.

Can anyone tell me about the structure of a Cairns teeth? Are they suppose to have 6 teeth between the k-9? Is it OK for the bottom teeth to be forward of the top or is this considered a defect?

We have two female Cairn Terriers. They are two years apart

sisters. Most of the time they play with each other and get along fine. However, occasionally they will get into

extremely fierce fights. After we separate them, they go

back to being pals. However, these fights are very stressful to us and we wonder what we might be doing, inadvertently, to cause them and what we might do to prevent them.

I have a delightful Cairn te4rrier whose has njust had his first birthday. His name is Otis . He is smart which also means he has a mind of his own which I hear is typical of Cairns.

Otis does not like to "come" when called. I have had him to puppy training and even the trainer said he was hard to train to come but so smart.

Does anyone have any ideas that work for stubborn dogs. Also, I am looking for a chat room to discuss Cairns.
