lymphosarcoma and chemo

does anyone have any information, or experience with lymphosarcoma in Briards? our 5 year old has just been diagnosed and we start chemo in 2 days. are there any suggestions to help him tolerate the chemo. this is our second briard whos developed the cancer. any info will be appreciated. thank you.

Cancer is the most prevalent killer of purebred dogs. 5 years is awfully young for it to strike but not unheard of in Briards. Normally I would ask if you had contacted your breeder but it is possible they have no experience in this.

I do know a few people who own Briards and who have some fmiliarity with chemo. If you want to write to me privately I will gladly give you some names and e-mail addreses or phone numbers.

Hello there. I am so sorry to hear about your briard. Our briard died after 11 years of great service of the same illness. I hope you can find strength to go on after you lose your baby, but feel good that there is going to be another briard to take his/her place. It's me again, AudreyS10@hotmail.com Here Goes: Here is a little wording on Lymphosarcoma. Lymphosarcoma is cancer of the lymph glands in dogs. It can be treated with chemotherapy. Unfortunately, even with treatment, many dogs do not survive for more than a year after diagnosis. As soon as diagnosis is made, a consultation with a veterinary oncologist should be made. Mouthwash Recipie: Extrapolated from human chemo treatments, if your dog ever gets sores in their mouth, from a bad tooth, injury or illness, you can make a mouth swab out of the following: 3 1/2 oz. maalox liquid 1 oz. alcohol free oral antiseptic (oralgel, orabase, etc.) 4 tsp. liquid Benadryl (25 mg.) mix well, keep refrigerated, swab the inside of the mouth with a soft sponge up to every 4 hours.
