puppy!

Hello! I am considering getting a shiba inu. I live in Ohio and will be moving into an apartment next year and would like a dog for companionship. I like the personality and size of the shiba and think that one would be a great dog for me. I will be moving into my apartment in may, and would like to get a dog around that time or shortly after. I have read that shibas would be suitable for apartments, is this true? Would barking be a major problem? How much would I expect to pay for a shiba puppy? (I would prefer a pet quality male dog btw) If anyone knows of a good breeder, or of an older dog who needs a good, loving home, or has any advice/info that would help me out, please email me at Nikskavik444@yahoo.com I am willing to travel a small distance if necessary.

When I first received my shiba puppy I too was in an apartment and also had the same concerns that you did. But I would have to say that Emi (my red shiba) was a great apartment dog. The great thing about shibas is that they hardly bark... except when there's someone at the door. Now that I live in a house, I have the convenience of just letting her out in the backyard but the great thing that Emi learned is how to go to the bathroom on command and she learned her greatest qualities when living in the apartment. I have a 15 month sesame shiba. Careful because they are runners. I find he loves to run in fenced in yard. Walking --- well HE WALKS ME! They do not bark often and are just so smart & lovable.

I live in an apartment and have 2 shibas and a dach. They are great and basically bark only when they hear noise at the door or when bandit tries to be macho. I will be having puppies around the 15 of feb and live in Pa if interested.

I live in a condo, and my shiba is a perfect apartment dog. Remember he will teeth and chew and needs to be walked. But Sake is compeletely housetrained and queit. I did crate train him at night or if I stepped out here and there, never had an accident!
