I have just had a litter May 28 and will be ready to go starting July 9th at the absolute earliest. (I am located in Denison, IA) The litter is 3 females and 5males! until the colors are determind the males are $400 and the females are $600. I have a Standard Poodle that was registered as a Chocolate, at 18 months he started getting A LOT of grey coming through his coat(everywhere), he is a very dark chocolate and the grey just keeps coming through, it is really grey on his back end, it looks like he is wearing mens briefs. My breeder told me to worm with strongit paste. I cannot find any on all the dog vet sites. I use strongit paste for my horses. Is this the same stuff? Is this available in a canine dose or do I have to give per weight of dog using horse wormer?

I have a standard poodle. I am looking to buy another one. My kids fight over my apricot standard and he is mine! lol Although the original owneer my Woody bought him to show I do not show him. He lives in the house with us and sleeps in the bed with us. So I do not want a standard that lives outside. I bought my standard poodle in May 2002. I have never owned a dog like this. He is beautiful, smart, and loves everyone, even cats!. He sleep with my husband and I every night. I just bred him and he is loved having another standard to play with. So I am taking my time looking for an older standard poodle. I am getting a puppy from bredding him so I wanted an older standard for him.

I have taken a poodle whose owner went into the nursing home. He is 12 1/2 yrs old. Such a loving dog and so well behaved. Can anyone tell me the life span of these dogs and if they are prone to fatty tumors. This dog has quite a few on him.

I recently got a puppy from the animal shelter. She is part aussie and part standard poodle. My problem is that she has a really bad bitting problem! She's not really aggressive, it's more of a playful biting. And she's really on the dominant side. I've taught her to sit and stay but other than that she doesn't do anything i say. I've bought her toys that she can play with and chew on, but she still insists on biting the wood furniture and people's hands!! She also jumps very high, bites your shirt, and rips it on the way down. We've had her for three months now, she's about five and a half months. PLEASE help!!! E-mail me any tips!! we have one small poodle terrier mix that we adopted many years ago and is still doing well and is friendly with other dogs. My youngest son, 12, wants a big dog to play with and ever since we saw an apricot standard weve been in love.

Our family wil be getting our new poodle puppy in about 5 weeks. After doing extensive research on which breed would be perfect for our family we decided on the Standard Poodle. We are anxiously awaiting our new addition. Now I am suddenly starting to hear horror stories about this particular breed, that they can have bad temperments. I was even told by 2 different people that they were attacked by a Standard Poodle. I know this could be true of any breed. I thought the Standards had great temperments for the most part. Has anyone ever encountered a bad experience with a Standard?

I was just wondering what color, or colors do people like in their Poodles. Of course ALL colors are beautiful, but as we all know, we have our favorites! I have 2 creams and 2 Phantoms(one is black and cream, and the other is black and red...really beautiful. My favorite colors are the Phantoms and the Chocolates.

Looking for an older pup (up to 2 1/2 yrs old) for my father-in-law. He lives in a home ona cul-de-sac, with a beautiful fenced in backyard in Sherman Okas, Calif. He recently lost his border collie mix to a rare blood disease and would like to get another dog.

We own a gorgeous male standard with a great dispostion and he loves ours but doesnt feel comfortable with a young pup. Hes great with animals and takes excellent care, as they were a child of his. Hes retired and home all day, although has plenty of energy to play and take care of a dog.

I am looking for a breeder of brown Standards. We raised them when I was a kid and they were the smartest and most personable breed Ive had in 40 years. I have had other colors but I am partial to the personality of the browns. I am considering getting back into breeding on a small scale and need some advise and help. I was at the vet today and saw a picture of a corded standard poodle on the cover of a magazine.

The coat looked similar to a Puli but the dog was partially shaved and definitly a poodle.

My sister has always had a standard poodle but Ive never seen the coat this way.

Is it a grooming technique?

I was wondering if its a big deal for a black poodle to have a small amount of white on chin and chest? Cant find any reference to it in the breed standard??? Have a beautiful, sound, healthy girl with fantastic movement that I was hoping to breed at a later date, but I dont want to propogate any problems. Is this a disqualification, or a minor fault? Recessive, or Dominant?

What is the best diet for a standard poodle?

We have a spayed Standard Poodle who would love a playmate. We would like to find another Standard who is between 18 m - 3 years, loves to play, likes children (11 and 13 yrs), and tolerates yard kitties. Our place is great: 4 acres rural PA-invisible fence system, on the battlefield and two, two-mile leash walks a day.

I have a 28 inch 100 pound Poodle. He isnt just tall, but very broad. Most breeders seem to prefer small standards, and dont like him. I have been told he is a throwback to German type Poodles who like German type Shepards, are broader and heavier than American bred ones. I would love to hear from anyone who knows more about this. Schatzi isnt over weight or fat just big and broad!

Just want to let you guys know that the average size for a STANDARD poodle in the U.S.A. is 22 - 26 at the shoulder. The average size is not 15 inches at the shoulder as stated in the Listing. Anything Over 15 inches at the shoulder is considered a STANDARD poodle as poodles come in 3 varieties, Toys which are 10 inches at the shoulder or under, Miniatures which are over 10 but under 15 inches at the shoulder, and Standards are over 15 inches at the shoulder but the norm being 22 - 26 at the shoulder. Would hate to see someone looking for the miniature size and end-up with the standard size.
