Youve probably acquired a dog by now, but in case you havent, I will share our bouvier experience with you.
We have a spayed female, age 7+, that we got from a breeder in North Carolina.
I love the dog with all my heart and soul.
The dog is kind and gentle with family members. But the dog is a watchdog and guard dog, and is extremely sensitive to all activities around the house and very watchful of strangers who enter into the house. The dog has some sort of hierarchy in dealing with strangers based on the threat the dog perceives. Small children pose no problem, adolescent girls are generally OK, adolescent boys less so. Adult females are tolerated, usually, but adult males are closely watched and have been nipped when turning their backs to leave the home.
The dog is huge, and will frighten children who are predisposed to being fearful of dogs.
The dog is very intelligent, smarter than my 17 year old son, and was very amenable to training. Th |
