My son is a hunter. He had two dogs, a walker hound and a beagle. He purchased two more hunting short beagles in December without my permission. He was keeping them at his father's house in the country in a kennel. But had to move them to my house in the city/suburbs. He is now getting ready to move out and unable to take them with him. There are three beagles and one Walker hound and one of the female beagles is pregnant. They have been trained to hunt and have not had any house training. I have a two year old golden retriever and a house cat and don't want to take on any more 'pets'. And even if I did consider it none of these dogs have had any house training what so ever, and if I did consider keeping any it could only be one dog. they have been advertised. We get phone calls but no one actually comes out to see them. I contacted a beagle rescue. The lady emailed me, and I answered some questions and then nothing after that. As much as I hate to do it, looks like I am going to be forced to take them to the SPCA. The dogs live in a kennel outside. I love animals and it kills me to see them like that. The pregnant beagle should be due with her puppies the end of July. I work full time and with my son moving out don't see how I can care for them. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of any Beagle oriented festivals that happen on the East Coast? Preferrably in the Mid Atlantic region? If not does anyone know of any sort of predominantly Beagle or Hound oriented get togethers, parks etc? Everytime I take my dog Macey out she encounters labs and dobbers, and pit bulls, and boxers but rarely any Beagles and I thought it would be nice to hang with some fellow hounds.

Dear friend I have a genuine doubt about rabies. I would like to know whether the dog, which has vaccinated antirabby, is safe from rabies. Some of the doctors told me we have to vaccinate again if the dog is bitten by a rabid animal. If it is so what is the use of antirabby vaccine. Is the rabies is originated from the body of dogs itself, without contact of rabid animal, bats, or raccoons. Some people say if vaccinated a dog antirabby, it will not show the symptoms of rabies though its affected rabies. Is it true? Please reply

I took her to the vet and I was told there is nothing they can do. The only thing is to make her feel loved and comfortable. Eventually she will have to be put to sleep. The vet says it could be soon. Wish me luck.

I have had my beagle for almost 15 years. She is not doing well. About two years ago she was hit by a car and the car damaged her hind leg. And she was diagnosed with heart worms. Our vet told us the treatment was to risky. About three weeks ago she started vomiting after eating and now she is seeming to have trouble brething. She breathes really deep and then gasps for air. I am not sure if she is going to be okay or if she needs to go to the vet. I called them yesterday again and they said to limit her food and water to only once or twice a day. And limiting water seems crule to me. So I am wondering if this is to do with her heartworms or old age. Anyone who may have some ideas please respond. Thanks so much!

By buying a dog at a rescue, you save two lives. You save the life of the dog/puppy you are buying and the who will now be able to fill your dogs space at the shelter.

Her previous owner didn't take very good care of her and he let her have a litter of puppies when she was too young. she had a difficult time raising them but she did a wondeful job and now they all have wonderful homes. she is currently overwieght from our giving her too many treats, but she is loosing weight now and she is alot healthier than she was when we rescued her from the man she was living with. We have since then had afamily reunion with all her pups. they have grown so much and look very healthy. 2 are now competing in agility and one is living the show dog life, the other two are loyal rabbit dogs. Hi, I have just rescued a beagle from my neighbors house. He didn't feed her or even acknowledge it when she was gone. She would always come over to my house to play with my dogs and eat. Now that I have her she is gaining wait fast. I love her to death. 14 week old American Pit Bull Terrier pup named Sunny. This guy is from California, picked up by a trucker. He was saved from a kill shelter. She is super sweet and UTD on shots. Ready for a new home. He is fawn and gets along well well other dogs. Looks like a purebred but cant prove it.

Shiloh is a 1-2year old PURE beagle. She is very skittish and needs an understanding owner. I will be working with her and she has already made wonderful progress. She is doing WONDERFUL in crate training and is learning that people can be nice. She is the *classic* tricolor beagle and is very beautiful. She is very small (only 15#). We do not care about papers, but want a good pure breed dog that can be trained to hunt. I am concerned about getting a "puppy mill" dog that would end up having all kinds of health problems. I was wondering if anyone else who owns a beagle out there is having problems with him/her not eating. My beagle is 5 months old and refuses to eat what is suggested. Im worried and would like some advice. The vets have told me to wait and see if he adapts to the food, but its been over three months and he hasnt.
