Re-posted to correct e-mail address!!!
I got my first German Shepherd when I was 18 and showed her in obedience and earned her CD. I became hooked to the excitement of the shows and earned 4 more CD's and one CDX on other German Shepherds through-out the years. I also fell in love with the Kuvasz. I put a CD and 12 points towards her Championship with 1 major needed and never completed (Can't win them all). I also owned and co-owned three other Kuvasz and finished their Championship quickly. I have worked as a ring steward once for an AKC sanction show and once for a AKC sanction match. Well that's 17 years worth of dog history in 45 seconds. I am currently dog-less. My beautiful CH. Nordland Ederra's Flower Girl (OFA)nicknamed "Miss Blossom" passed away at the age of 9 years old. I find myself longing to have another dog in my life! If your a serious breeder who wants an excellent home for your show quality pup or young adult and is interested in a co-ownership please feel free to contact me at rcschube@ix.netcom.com The sex of the dog is not important. Temperment, soundness, movement, health and overall loveability is what's most important to me. What ever dog I get first and formost is a loving companion. Let's not forget, my dog is going to want to strut his or her stuff around the show ring. I haven't been on a circuit for quite some time and can't wait to get back in the ring. |

To anyone who can help;
We were taking our vizsla for a walk when she started wheezing real loud. Her tongue looked blue, she was drooling, and her heart was beating rapidly. This was just a walk so she hadnt been running around. She was awake though her eyes were squinted. It sounded like she was trying to breath through her nose though her mouth was open. I know she could hear us but she would just stand their trying to catch her breath. Does anyone know what this was? She has had four or five episodes like this in the past two years. Her regular physicals dont show anything.
She has had no other health problems. We would appreciate any information anyone can give. Were somewhat concerned but shes fine 98% of the time so we havent taken any further steps.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this!

My wife and I are the owners of a very affectionate 3 1/2 year old Viszla with we have owned since she was a puppy. We love her beyond belief. The problem is is that she is extremely jumpy and has bitten and snapped several times (at us) in the past for no reason what so ever. She had several incidents 2 years ago, but has not had another up until this week. We barely avoided putting her down then, but do not think there is any way to avoid it now, especially now that we have a 1 year old baby. In good conscience we cannot give her to another family. Is there anyone out there that would hunt her and keep her in a large pen where she will not have the opportunity to bite anyone? This may be our only way out without destroying her.

Hi we have a 1 year old, fixed, male vizsla. This is our second vizsla and a WORLD of difference from our first. Our problem is his aggressive behavior towards toddlers. He will growl, bark and charge them. He has never been alone with a small child where abuse could take place and he has been socialized with dogs and people of all ages since the beginning. Help. We are definitely in for the long haul and we need to fix this behavior. He has been to puppy classes as well as off leash classes with us. |

would be staying at different motels and traveling 50 hours by car.

My wife and I are picking up our new (5-mo.-old) Vizsla puppy this afternoon. We were very fortunate to have found her at the animal shelter "Orphans of the Storm" in Riverwoods, IL. Despite denials of her being a pure pedigree, were certain shes 100% Vizsla. Her former owners apparantly received her as a gift (for shame!), so much to our excitement, well have a new family pet. One bad habit, however, that weve learned about is her nipping. Any help you might have on how to change this behavior would really help. Thanks. |

im about to purchase a puppy vizsla, and have heard this breed needs lotsa of attention and exercise. the word "alot" has me concerned. i have 2 small children 5 and 8. my wife also works. the puppy will be alone from 8-3 monday -friday, other than me popping in during the day.i have a very large yard for the dog to run and play, and i also run 3 miles daily and i plan to take the dog with me, is that enough exercise? also, as far as love an attention the dog will get plenty, my concern is the 8-3 alone....do you think this will make a good enviornment for this breed as a pet for my family. thanks for you help!

Hello everyone. Having myself been a toy poodle person for quite a while now...the fiance thinks its time to move onto a breed with more than just looks and brains. Namely, some athleticism. We are now considering a Viszla.
We have a very large, fenced backyard and have a fairly active lifestyle (cant run a toy poodle for long!).
Is there anything we should know about this breed that the textbooks dont mention? I have heard they can be quite destructive if left alone in a home for long. But is there anything in particular that stands out (heard about the potential for epilepsy and hip displasia).
Your experiences, expertise and knowledge of this breed is very much appreciated! Thanks everyone! |

I have seen several posts of people looking for Vizsla Puppies. I know of several nice litters around the country
and would be happy to refer people to reputable Breeders, the Vizsla Club of America, or their local Vizsla Club.
Please post me privately.

Vizsla: Vizsla puppy

We ane look for a puppy to join our family. We currently have 2 male Lhasa Apso (14 yrs. old) and a female lab (7 yrs.) As one of my boys is not well (Cushings disease) and the doctors tell me he wont be with me more than 1-1/2 yrs. we would like to introduce a new dog to our household. Our dogs are pampered -- many say they would like to come back as our dogs. They have a room with a doggy door which allows them to come and go to a fenced back yard. Our lab is a duck hunter and hunts with my husband. She has also gone dove and quail hunting. All dogs have remained socialized with other dogs -- familys, neighbors, and strangers we meet on the beach. Please let us hear from someone who would like to allow us to love the puppy they have bred. Thanks. |
Vizsla: stomach problems

I have a Vizsla and she has had stomach problems and Ive had to put her on a low fiber diet that I purchase from my vet. Otherwise she gets diaherra. Is this a common problem with Vizslas? If so, what has anyone done to remedy this? She is ten years old and this issue started about 1 year ago. Thanks for any response. |

Hello there - I live in new york and want to buy a viszla puppy as soon as possible. I just found out about this breed when I saw one at a nearby park. People say it is an easy dog to live with and I am willing to try. I have a small apartment, good friends, good job and I think that now is the time to add a puppy to my life! If anyone has a puppy available, I would love to hear about it. Im not fussy about which sex it is and Im willing to pay shipping charges too. Please contact me right away. I am very anxious!! |

I have a 6 1/2 yr old nutered male vizsla AKC and great lines avaliable FREE to a good home. We adopted this dog from its first owners, who had to move out of the country, hopeing he would get along with our other two vizsla littermates. Wishful thinking didnt pay off... They all share a mutual hate for eachother and now after 8months we need some peace and quiet. He is a great dog but prefers to be an only child. If interested contact me and well talk!

Hello there - I live in Boston, MA and I am looking to buy a companion Vizsla puppy today or whenever available in the next few months. I have wanted a dog forever - but due to a small apartment I have spent my time with my wonderful cat. However, now I am moving into a huge apartment where I can have a dog - and now is the time for my new puppy!
If anyone has a puppy available, I would be happy to hear about it. I am willing to pay for shipping as well - but would much rather be able to pick my puppy up. I am willing to drive up to 6 hours from MA to pick it up.
Thanks for your help, or your suggestions.

We are interested in buying a Vizsla, but we were wondering if anyone could tell us what we need to look out for when choosing a puppy. Also, we would like to know if this breed of dogs are prone to certain health problems. |

I dont live near you, not even close. But I do have a Vizsla puppy. And let me tell you your children would love one. They would become instant best friends. Vizsla are naturally drawn to children and incredibly dedicated to their family. All of the children in our neighborhood know Fisher, and he loves the attention they give him. He will play until he almost collapses hes so tired. He can run for what seems to be forever and loves to swim. Im sure as soon as your kids saw a Vizsla or could be around one for even a moment they would love it!! Good Luck! |

Im sorry to hear about your vizsla. I really hope you find another alternative to putting her down. My sister got a 3-4 year old female, who was having problems like yours is with her previous owners, through the vizsla rescue program. After some rehabilitation, Sade has turned out to be a wonderful dog, and very loving companion to my sister. I hope you will look into the vizsla rescue program through the vizsla club. There are many people who are looking for vizslas who have special needs.
From what I remember, the vizsla club made arrangements to pick Sade up from the previous owners. One of the members kept Sade at her house, until my sister was selected through an interview process to take Sade. The vizsla club handled the whole thing.
I really hope youll consider this option, if you dont find any immediate takers. I have seen first hand how a little rehab work with these dogs can do wonders. Good luck.
Sincerely,
David Edwards |

Alex is a 1 year old spayed female vizla mix. She was saved from the local pound in N.E. GA. She is a great dog who loves everyone she meets and also gets along well with other dogs and cats. She is high energy and loves to run and play so will require a home with a large fenced yard. Adoption fee to cover vet expenses. |
