TT Puppy

HI, We are hoping to find a TT puppy to join our family. We live in the Chicago area and have a toy poodle who is a 6 year old male. My oldest child is 18 and my youngest is 7. If you know of any puppies, please write back. Thanks, Andrea

These people are not the only "reputable" breeders among our membership but people who pay to be listed on a public list - many who have only an occasional litter (one or less per year) or who will not ship dogs because we are unable to check the potential homes for our pups are not listed.

If you start searching other sources, be sure to read the Guidelines for Responsible Breeders (a link is on the web site above) to see the very minimum requirements the Breed Club expects breeders to meet. The responsible breeders check for - AND WILL FURNISH PROOF TO YOU - that, at a minimum, the parents have been checked by appropriate veterinary specialists and found clear of the hereditary problems found in the TT (and many other breeds as well).

Both parents should also have a report from a certified canine opthamologist (it may be an original report or may be registration of the report from CERF or the TTCA private registry called TTEC) that the dog has been checked within the previous 12 months and found to be free from hereditary eye diseases. The eye problems which may affect TTs include PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), LL (Lens Luxation), cataracts which appear before the age of 5 years or so, While the number of TTs with these problems is not large they are passed on through the genes (personally with my 32 years in the breed - and about 30 litters - I have produced 3 cases of LL and two of PRA of which I am aware, and had about a dozen cases of hip problems).
