Could some one send me a picture of a Tibetan Terrier. I picked up a dog along side of the road ,and someone told me she looked like a Tibetan Terrier. I have never seen one. Thanks for you help.

We picked up what appears to be a pure bred TT from the city dog pound. He is all black with a redish colored beard and has a black and pink tongue if that means any thing? All that we have read about the TT he fits him to a tee. Is there any way in which we can prove that he is pure bread? Is it normal when he lays on his belly that he spread his hind legs out to both sides of his body or tail with pads facing up in the air?

Ive been trying to find a smaller Tibetan Terrier, but it seems the breed has gotten larger - 15-17". Are they being bred for the larger size, or is it just the breeders in the Los Angeles area Ive been talking with? Any comments?

The standard for the TT originally called for them to be 14 to 16 inches. The standard was revised in 1986 and the section on siz now reads: "Average weight is 20 to 24 pounds, but the weight range may be 18 to 30 pounds. Proportion of weight to height is far more important than specific weight and should reflect a well-balanced square dog. The average height in dogs is 15 to 16 inches, bitches slightly smaller. The length, measured from the point of shoulder to the root of tail, is equal to the height measured from the highest point of the withers to the ground. Faults--Any height above 17 inches or below 14 inches" A dog outside of this range is just as lovable but should be considered a "pet" quality, imo.

In my own line, I find that puppies tend to double the height they are between 6 and 7 weeks (they will be at least twice their height at the withers at 6 weeks and not more than twice their 7 week height) at maturity. I know this holds true for SOME other breeders but

HI! Ive been doing reaserach on TTs and am considering adopting one in the near future. Unfortunately, I do not know of any in my area, and would like ot see some full grown TTs before we get a puppy. Does anyone know of any TTs in the Central New Jersey Area??? Thanks, Barry

I am a single, professional businessman with a 9-year old son. I am considering a family pet and a TT was recommended, but I lack fundamental knowledge of the breed, personality, activity, temperment, special care, intellegence, etc. I would greatly appreciate any input from TT owners regarding expectations, care, etc. If anyone would kindly provide me with some information that may help us select the right pet for us, it would be greatly appreciated. We are very active, sports, biking, throwing the ball, etc. but enjoy snuggling and affection. Thank you for your thoughtful replies.
