The Standard Schnauzer is not always available, it is not like ordering out of a catalog. Many pet quality buyers are often impulsive buyers. They often times do not consider the cost of grooming, food, vet, training classes, the time involved with this breed, especially when a puppy, is considerable. They are sooooo cute but the brain is learning and when the rules change (begging at the table, sitting on the furniture), retraining can be frustrating or nearly impossible. This is a very intelligent dog, loyal family member, and still a fairly healthy breed. As the breeder wants to be sure he is placing one of his pups in a proper home, the buyer needs to ask questions. Who are the parents? Are they OFAd and Cerfd? Why was this breeding done? How are the puppies being raised? I hope this makes some sense. This has been my breed for some 30 years. I have lived, trained, and shown them in competition and never made any money by having puppies! |
