I have a 1 year old snow white male with blue eyes. He is real sweet natured and I want to find him a loving home. My 16 year old dauhter just doesn't have time for him anymore and he needs someone who will spend time with him. He likes cats but is very puppish and can be rough. Highly intelligent he learns commands real quick. He is up to date on his shots but is not neutered. I live in mid Florida and I will not ship him. You must be willing to pick him up. email- walksfar1@hotmail.com |

Siberian Husky: HELP! SICK 5 MO. OLD HUSKY!!!
|
Posted Date: 2003-10-07 10:01:56 By: CynthiaInKY
Please help!! I have a 5 month old Sibe that I've had for 2 1/2 months. About 3 weeks ago she developed diarrhea and occasional vomiting. I've taken her to her vet 3 times for this... she has done fecal samples, blood tests and a parvo test (she's been vaccinated). She put her on Flagyl to form the feces and sucraflate (sp?) to stop the vomiting. She was also put on a bland dog food- Hill's Prescription ID. She started doing better, but halfway through the Rx her stool started to get soft again. I decided that after 3 trips to her vet (not to mention mega-bucks!!) without results, that I would take her for a 2nd opinion. She tested for parasites and found none, but put her on 2 other meds, one to harden her stool and an antibiotic. She seems to get better for a couple of days and then has a loose stool or diarrhea and seems to be down in the dumps... as you know, this is not normal for huskies!! Is there someone out there that has had similar problems or could offer some insight on what I should do when neither of the vets I've taken her to can help?!?
P.S. I'm hanging my head right now... I got her from a pet store. I hadn't heard the horror stories until people asked me where I got her. I just wanted a husky. :o( |

I have two 8 year old huskies. My male is red and white 100+ pounds. My female is 70+ pounds and is white and black. They are very intelligent. We have bred them twice. Litters were beautifully mixed. We now have two children and a very busy life and do not have the time required to care for them. Would like to see them stay together. They have never been apart from each other. Please respond. They need a good home.

Siberian Husky: ivomec is ok
|
Posted Date: 2003-07-28 21:32:29 By: walksfar1
I am a breeder for 15 years. You can use ivomec liguid cattle wormer, however you MUST have your dog screened for heart worms if they are over 5 months old before begining treatment. Do NOT use on cats!!!! Do NOT use on pups under 4 months of age.!!!
You must weight your dog on a regular basis and know his exact weight. Use a diabetic syringe 1cc . each mark on the syringe with a number signifys 10lbs of body weight. So if your dog weighs 40lbs you would fill syringe to the 4 mark, if 45 go halfway etween 4 & 5 etc. If you need help you can email me. Be aware though that Collie and sheltie owners are cautioned not to use ivomec, as it can cause death. |

I would demand that the puppy be returned to you and a replacement one will be given in its place. IF they refuse to do that I would tell them they need to pay you if they plan on keeping the puppy. ALso I would demand that you see a record from the vet office stating it was taken in for such a problem. It sounds to me that they are trying topull a fast one on you.

Siberian Husky: Breeder question

Posted Date: 2003-01-20 16:29:47 By: Katiebunt
We have been breeding Siberian Huskies for over 4 years. We have had 6 beautiful litters from our females. My question is to any other breeders out there. We have never received a complaint on any of our puppies(52 puppies total), until today. A couple purchased a 9 week old pup last week, and called today to say that the puppy has had a seizure, they have taken the pup to the vet, who told them he can not be certain why the dog seized(anything from epilepsy to ingestion of a chemical). They informed me that they have put a stop on their check and have no intention of returning the puppy to us. We have never come across this before. We receive pics from people who have our puppies all the time. We have never been told of any defects with our pups, and our vet has never diagnosed any problems with our adult dogs. What should we do in this situation? |

Hi, I have an 8 month old Alaskan/Siberian cross husky. She is white with a faint caramel mask. We need to find her a good, loving home ASAP as both myself and my 2 year old suffer from asthma and unfortunately Miki aggravates it. We love her dearly and have been searching for a home for 3 months now to no avail.
She is wonderful with children, is energetic (of course, she's a husky), strong and healthy. She is not spayed as my husband was hoping to become a breeder.
If you live in Ontario Canada (Will not ship) and can give Mikitura a good home, please email me.

Mom was a purebred Siberian husky Dad was a purebred King Shepherd and infortuniately I got a puppy that has a husky brain and she dousn't come when she is called. Now on top of that she has seperation anxciety. And I must put her in the kennal when I leave the house(even though she hates it). I have some new niebors and they are complaining about my dog whining non stop when I leave. when I leave her In the house loose she seems calm but she always seems to get out of the house Then when I get home and try to catch her her husky senses kick in and she dicides that she doesn't REALLY need me and she takes off down the road. What I want to Know is is there a way to keep her out of the kennal in the house and not have to worry about her getting out???

I seem to be having a little problem with my 3 month old husky pup, aside from the usual ones with any puppy of this age.
I don't know if this is a breed thing, this being my first husky and all, I'm thinking it is though, because my brother in law has my pup's sister, and she does the same thing, just not as aggressively. It has to do with her water dish. Ever since my husband and I got this pup she's delighted in putting her paws in her water dish while she drinks. At first it was cute, now it's somewhat of a problem. If given the chance,(and a decent sized water dish) this dog will run at it from a distance and DIVE into it with her paws and face, and then feverishly DIG the water out of the dish, biting and barking at it as she does so.
This of course ends up making a small lake in the middle of my kitchen, which is somewhat of a health hazard,(and a pain in the butt to clean up 10 or so times a day!) as well as a small river all through the house where she runs after she's done it.
We've tried several different tactics. from giving her a smaller water dish to sitting the dish in a deep pan, to putting a bucket or dish of water outside only, to my current idea, using a large rabbit watering bottle hung on the one of my counter doors. This seems to be working so far, I only started it this morning, but I'm afraid she may start chewing the bottle itself soon, and we'll have to think of something else.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had this problem with their huskies and other dogs? If so, what did you guys do? . I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thankyou!!

Help!! My husband was approached by a fellow worker tonight about a Sib. Husky that needs a new home. The dog is a fabulous dog, obedient, loves kids, female,(not sure if spayed). She is three years old and the family is heart broken. They have a new baby in the house and the baby has been sick for quite some time now. It turns out that the baby is allergic to the dog. The dog is a pure breed, house broken of course, very gentle, and has akc papers. They are not asking any money for the dog. They just want to see it go to a loving home. Please contact me privately if interested at man687@aol.com. I am a licensed rescue home for herding dogs, but I have agreed to help find this dog a loving home. Serious inquiries only. a friend suggested getting a dog whistle, but i know nothing about them other than that dogs can hear them and humans cant.
would he respond and come if the whistle is blown?

Hi all:
My wife and I have a 2 year old Siberian Husky. Hes not a pure bread, but a mix with another breed of husky. He seems very healthy, VERY energetic, and loves attention. Weve had him for six months, and have come up with a couple questions along the way.
1) We want to get him neutered, is there anything to watch out for or ask when going to the vet? Will this help even out his personality a bit. Hes very excitable, but never mean.
2 When he is not being taken for a walk, he has a 100 runner in our side yard. He has a mix of sun and shade. He also has a dog house that I painted, insulated and re-roofed for him. The only problem is that when it rains, he lays out in the rain when he has this warm, dry house available to him. Any way to coax him into the house. If I throw a toy in there, he will go in and get it, but then shoot right back out. I bring him in to sleep in our attached garage at night.
I guess that is it for now, any replies or info in genrall is greatly ap |

Think I have been exceeding message length, so here goes. Husky has been infested with ticks for quite some time. Nothing is helping including vet recommeded products. Run is poisoned. Had blood transfusion due to female tick blooming on him. Got better, then got worse and is now blind. Blue eyes now reddish yellow and cannot see. Will return to vet in the AM, but dont expect much help from him. What could have caused this blindness? How can you combat ticks when you live in a grove of trees on a creek? Vet says I cant and freeze is only thing that will help. Ive spent over $1000 trying to save this dog and fear I am going to lose him. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks.

Hi I have recently purchased an adult female purebred Husky. She is active. She is very passive. She is very lady like. Very well mannered and good natured. I am having difficulty feeding her. She refuses dry dog food. She only eats one third of a can of moist dog food. I feed Iams to my pets. She does not like treats. I try to keep table scraps from her but my children sneak them by me. She does beg when we are all eating, for that behavior she gets sent to her kennel. She is about 4 or 5 yrs old. She has dry food left out all day for her. Should I leave the dry food in her kennel when we are not at home? I dont know what to feed her and how much to feed her. Any help will be grateful. Thank you |

I am going to have my little husky soon when he is eight weeks old. I just wondering can I let my husky feel free to live in the backyard if no one at home. Because in my understanding, they like to run away by digging holes underneath the fence or jump over fence. My fence is tall enough, and I am just afraid that it will still run away in some other unexpected method. And I just think its not good to lock up my husky in its cage when nobody at home. Please advise me . thanks |

Before you should offer your boys at stud, you need to go to shca.org, to become educated on ethical breeding. At the very least, you should not breed any Siberian before two years of age for several reasons, one being that they can not be OFA certified until then. Other genetic health screenings you must do include CERF, thyroid, vWD and brucellosis. While you are at the SHCA site, please check out Siberian Rescue and see the huge number of unwanted, irresonsibly bred Siberians that are looking for homes. Many will not find homes since there just arent enough good homes availble for all the Siberians born each year, and will be euthanized. Please consider neutering your boys for their health and the good of the breed. |

My fiance and i just got a siberian husky puppy and she is beautiful but stubborn. The breeder even commented on it. She will not listen and when one of us tells her NO she looks at us and then begins with the behavior again. She is also getting into the habit of growling at me whenever tell her no and have to take something from her. We really need some advice on how to deal with her. We both really love her and want to teach her things. I have read that huskies are intelligent dogs and want to know good ways of teaching her. Any advice is helpful THANKS!!!~ Nat, Perry and Jericho |

We just bought a siberian husky puppy from a local pet store, he is really cute, and he loved him from the first day, but the problem is, he is eating his own poop! we took him to the vet and she gave as a powder to mix it with his food (for-bid) and the instructions said one or two package are enough, but he is still eating his poop, he is on his crate during the night, and as soon as we put him in his crate he poop, no matter if we took him for a long walk of excersise, he still does it and eated on his crate, I am worried becouse he is alone during the day, and my concern is that he is used to eat and I dont know how to stop this behavior, since I bought him at the local pet store we dont know his breeder, we paid $750.00 for him and is a beautiful dog, but my kids dont want him anymore becouse they found it is disgusting, pleas tell me how to stop him from eating his own pooop. I will apreciate all your advises, I really need urgent help.
thank you very much.

Ive had Siberians for 16 years. I have a 3yr old female who seems obsessed with digging up grass roots to eat. Seldom sits still and seems anxious.Vitamin deficiency maybe?? All of my huskies eat a balanced diet including Pet Tabs daily. I exercise them regularly, crate them during the day, and they have a huge yard to romp in with nylabones to chew on. Any suggestions? |

I have 3 dogs, 10 yr old male shep mix, 6 yr old female shep mix, and a 8 mo old female husky. Everyone gets along fine untill I put a leash on the husky. She is very attached to me and when the other female comes too close the husky starts growling. This weekend when it happened the shep female attacked the husky and wouldnt stop. There is no problem with the male just the 2 females. My ? is what should I do. I figure they are fighting for dominace but what should I do when its happening right in front of me? |

If you are looking to get a healthy dog, for a cheaper price then breeders, you should really look at the siberian rescue program, These dogs need homes, and they have one for every state. You should really try to get one from there. It would be helping a dog who needs it |
