Siberian Husky: Whats the ideal food diet for my Siberian Husky?

I was just wondering what would be the ideal food diet for my puppy.
He is currently 8 months old and we started him off on a diet consisting of 80% dry food and 20% of fresh chicken meat, or beef sometimes both mixed.
After a while we tried feeding him some chicken salami and dry food. After we that we started cooking rice and chicken and that went for a while because we were told that cooked rice and some cooked chicken is really good for him.
So we are trying feed him a little bit change here and there, however now at this stage we not quite sure if thats good for him and we dont know if she should keep up change the food here and there so he has some variety.
In changing the dogs food here and there could i make my dog sick???
and also someone said once a month a row egg is good for the dogs coat is that true???
Please help because we love our dog and dont want to make it sick.
Thank you very much in your attandence to this matter. Its greatly appreciated.

I have a 1 year old snow white male with blue eyes. He is real sweet natured and I want to find him a loving home. My 16 year old dauhter just doesn't have time for him anymore and he needs someone who will spend time with him. He likes cats but is very puppish and can be rough. Highly intelligent he learns commands real quick. He is up to date on his shots but is not neutered. I live in mid Florida and I will not ship him. Please help!! I have a 5 month old Sibe that I've had for 2 1/2 months. About 3 weeks ago she developed diarrhea and occasional vomiting. I've taken her to her vet 3 times for this... she has done fecal samples, blood tests and a parvo test (she's been vaccinated). She put her on Flagyl to form the feces and sucraflate (sp?) to stop the vomiting. She was also put on a bland dog food- Hill's Prescription ID. She started doing better, but halfway through the Rx her stool started to get soft again. I decided that after 3 trips to her vet (not to mention mega-bucks!!) without results, that I would take her for a 2nd opinion. She tested for parasites and found none, but put her on 2 other meds, one to harden her stool and an antibiotic. She seems to get better for a couple of days and then has a loose stool or diarrhea and seems to be down in the dumps... as you know, this is not normal for huskies!! Is there someone out there that has had similar problems or could offer some insight on what I should do when neither of the vets I've taken her to can help?!?
P.S. I'm hanging my head right now... I got her from a pet store. I hadn't heard the horror stories until people asked me where I got her. I just wanted a husky. :o( |

Litters were beautifully mixed. We now have two children and a very busy life and do not have the time required to care for them. Would like to see them stay together. They have never been apart from each other. Please respond. They need a good home.

Posted Date: 2003-07-28 21:32:29 By: walksfar1
I am a breeder for 15 years. You can use ivomec liguid cattle wormer, however you MUST have your dog screened for heart worms if they are over 5 months old before begining treatment. Do NOT use on cats!!!! Do NOT use on pups under 4 months of age.!!!
You must weight your dog on a regular basis and know his exact weight. Use a diabetic syringe 1cc . each mark on the syringe with a number signifys 10lbs of body weight. So if your dog weighs 40lbs you would fill syringe to the 4 mark, if 45 go halfway etween 4 & 5 etc. If you need help you can email me. Be aware though that Collie and sheltie owners are cautioned not to use ivomec, as it can cause death. |

I would demand that the puppy be returned to you and a replacement one will be given in its place. IF they refuse to do that I would tell them they need to pay you if they plan on keeping the puppy. ALso I would demand that you see a record from the vet office stating it was taken in for such a problem. It sounds to me that they are trying topull a fast one on you.

Siberian Husky: Breeder question

Posted Date: 2003-01-20 16:29:47 By: Katiebunt
We have been breeding Siberian Huskies for over 4 years. We have had 6 beautiful litters from our females. My question is to any other breeders out there. We have never received a complaint on any of our puppies(52 puppies total), until today. A couple purchased a 9 week old pup last week, and called today to say that the puppy has had a seizure, they have taken the pup to the vet, who told them he can not be certain why the dog seized(anything from epilepsy to ingestion of a chemical). They informed me that they have put a stop on their check and have no intention of returning the puppy to us. We have never come across this before. We receive pics from people who have our puppies all the time. We have never been told of any defects with our pups, and our vet has never diagnosed any problems with our adult dogs. What should we do in this situation? |

Hi, I have an 8 month old Alaskan/Siberian cross husky. She is white with a faint caramel mask. We need to find her a good, loving home ASAP as both myself and my 2 year old suffer from asthma and unfortunately Miki aggravates it. We love her dearly and have been searching for a home for 3 months now to no avail.
She is wonderful with children, is energetic (of course, she's a husky), strong and healthy. She is not spayed as my husband was hoping to become a breeder.
If you live in Ontario Canada (Will not ship) and can give Mikitura a good home, please email me.

Hi I have a 10 month old Shepherd/husky cross. Mom was a purebred Siberian husky Dad was a purebred King Shepherd and infortuniately I got a puppy that has a husky brain and she dousn't come when she is called. Now on top of that she has seperation anxciety. And I must put her in the kennal when I leave the house(even though she hates it). I have some new niebors and they are complaining about my dog whining non stop when I leave. when I leave her In the house loose she seems calm but she always seems to get out of the house Then when I get home and try to catch her her husky senses kick in and she dicides that she doesn't REALLY need me and she takes off down the road. What I want to Know is is there a way to keep her out of the kennal in the house and not have to worry about her getting out???

I seem to be having a little problem with my 3 month old husky pup, aside from the usual ones with any puppy of this age.
I don't know if this is a breed thing, this being my first husky and all, I'm thinking it is though, because my brother in law has my pup's sister, and she does the same thing, just not as aggressively. It has to do with her water dish. Ever since my husband and I got this pup she's delighted in putting her paws in her water dish while she drinks. At first it was cute, now it's somewhat of a problem. If given the chance,(and a decent sized water dish) this dog will run at it from a distance and DIVE into it with her paws and face, and then feverishly DIG the water out of the dish, biting and barking at it as she does so.
This of course ends up making a small lake in the middle of my kitchen, which is somewhat of a health hazard,(and a pain in the butt to clean up 10 or so times a day!) as well as a small river all through the house where she runs after she's done it.
We've tried several different tactics. from giving her a smaller water dish to sitting the dish in a deep pan, to putting a bucket or dish of water outside only, to my current idea, using a large rabbit watering bottle hung on the one of my counter doors. This seems to be working so far, I only started it this morning, but I'm afraid she may start chewing the bottle itself soon, and we'll have to think of something else.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had this problem with their huskies and other dogs? If so, what did you guys do? . I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thankyou!!

Help!! My husband was approached by a fellow worker tonight about a Sib. Husky that needs a new home. The dog is a fabulous dog, obedient, loves kids, female,(not sure if spayed). She is three years old and the family is heart broken. They have a new baby in the house and the baby has been sick for quite some time now. It turns out that the baby is allergic to the dog. The dog is a pure breed, house broken of course, very gentle, and has akc papers. They are not asking any money for the dog. They just want to see it go to a loving home. Please contact me privately if interested at man687@aol.com. I am a licensed rescue home for herding dogs, but I have agreed to help find this dog a loving home. Serious inquiries only. i have a 3 yr old male husky.
he behaves rather well, but a few times he has ran out the door. it then takes me around an hour of chasing him till he finally goes back into the house.
a friend suggested getting a dog whistle, but i know nothing about them other than that dogs can hear them and humans cant.
would he respond and come if the whistle is blown?
any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!! |
