feeding problem

Hi, we brought home a 4 month old shih tzu puppy 4 days ago. His feeding sched is 1/4 cup dogfood 3 times a day. The first 2 days he was a ravenous eater. But in the last two days he seems to have lost his appetite. Now he prefers to eat when the food is in my hand. If he doesn't eat from my hand, he eats very little. He also drinks very little water. Is this normal? Is he just lonely? What should I do? Thanks!!!
