We\'ve never used Tucker for breeding before, but we want to give it a try. He\'s a handsome, healthy sable and white boy. He has all his clearances (hips, eyes, shoulders...) and shots are up to date. He\'s more on the small side (about 14.5 inches at the withers), so we would like it if the female is small boned too. (We heard that shelties with small bones are less likely to get hip problems.) Tucker is very well trained and has a perfect temperament. He can be energetic and playful, yet he knows when to be calm. He\'s a great family dog. We would like the female to have a somewhat similar personality, but call us if you are interested in breeding. We won\'t be too picky =). Thanks! 489-7009

My 6-year old Sheltie Hero is suffering from an unknown disorder. The first diagnosis was sarcoptic mange. He was placed on Revolution for treatment throughout the month of July and his condition grew worse. He now has skin lesions all over his body. He has been on steroids and antibiotics throughout the whole month of July, but he is not getting better. I just got 5 skin biopsies down and the results were that he has a deep infection, but no other details. I have an appointment with a dermatology specialist on Thursday. Has anyone experienced this? hi, i have a sheltie puppy about 4 months old and he is starting to bite when he wants to play but he bites so hard that it breaks the skin and also i dont know if he was abused as a young puppy but everytime i go to brush him he shows his teeth at me and growls and barks like he was hit by a brush also he is still teething. sheltie

he is a 7 month old pup with a broken leg, how do I keep him from hurting his leg but keep him from being bored? everytime I take him out out of his kennel he wants to run and play like a normal puppy but I am afraid he will hurt himself again

Here's my question...I've been searching all the breeders in my area, and they ALL tell me the same thing....that a petite sable female is THE MOST asked for puppy so it is going to be HARD for me to find, and then they try to sell me on another color or a male. If the SABLE females are the most sought after for pets, why aren't more people BREEDING sables for pets? I don't want to show, I've had two other shelties in my life time. I'm getting older and the kids are moving out, and I'm looking for the companion dog that will be with me for the next 15 or so years so I don't want to take second choice. It's important to me to have the color I love, the gender I love (nothing against males, but I've raised 4 two legged daughters, I want a 4-legged daughter too), and small enough to almost be a lap dog and cuddle up on the couch with me, the little 13-14 inchers (okay, my lap is not so little). Please don't think this is a flame. I'm just frustrated and missing having a furry girl rubbing up against my calves as I go about the house and hopping in the car with me on errands.

My granddaughter just got her first puppy. She is now the proud owner of Sheltie. The problem is that when we take Tag for a ride in the truck she drools constantly. I've never seen this happen before with my other Sheltie. Anybody know why?? Thanks, BLZubkus@msn.com

I HAVE 2 SHELTIES, BOTH FEMALE, ONE IS 7 THE OTHER IS 3. I LOVE THEM DEARLY. THEY ARE LIKE MY CHILDREN. THEY ARE VERY LOVABLE AND WELL BEHAVED, THAT IS UNTIL SOMEONE APPROACHES THE DOOR TO LEAVE. THEY BOTH BARK AND CARRY ON AND SPIN AROUND IN CIRCLES. IT IS VERY UN-NERVING. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO MAKE THEM STOP. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY ARE TRYING TO "HERD" ME BACK TO THEM. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH SHELTIES?
