Shy pup

I just got a 7 week old female rotty,Ive never seen a dog act the way she dose.Ive had her for a few days and she is just now getting use to me.She barks and growls at things that shes not sure of,when people come over,she about has a heart attack.She seems to be unsure of every thing.Have any of you seen this kind of thing before and how did the dog turn out?

I had a male Rott that was growling at 1 week. When we brought him home at 6 weeks, he still growled at everything and anything that moved. Turned out he was just very vocal. As he got older, we realized he was growling just like a human would moan or sigh. Never showed any aggression, (well 1 time and he thought he was protecting me). Can't say for sure, but I would guess your pup is just being vocal. She's talking to you.

I wish she was just talking to me,but shes not.She puts her hair up and barks and chases who ever comes over.She is getting better,but still is very up set when some one is in are house.She even has tryed to bite a family member that came over.Like i said she is getting better.When people come over,i make her go to them so they can pet her so she can see,that there is no reason to act like that.Her parents are protective,but welcomes people.The other pups dont seem to act like her.Some times she acts like she has been beat,i dont know the breeders that good,but they dont seem to be that way.I guess with time and lots of love,may be she will out grow this.I was thinking of taking her back,because i have five grand kids all little,and she seems to trust grown ups more than kids,and her trust for grown ups is just about as bad.She loves me now and when shes in the house she has to know where i am all the time.

It doesn't sound like your dog was socialized enough before you purchased it. You should take every opportunity to expose your pup to strangers in controled and positive situations. Over time you should see major improvements. by your discription it sounds like the dog is frightened by new situations and you don't want her to become a "fear biter". Please take my advise and socialize her every chance you get. If you don't see improvements, you should concider returning the dog to the breeder.

my dog is a rotty and she is 2 months. She is scared of everyone in the family and hides in corners wats wrong????
