The majority of strictly American bloodline dogs are no longer true Rottweilers. They don’t fit the FCI Standard, despite many of them having American Championship titles. The biggest problem we see are very light eyes, pink mouths, missing teeth, wrinkly heads, oversized, unstable temperaments/weak nerves and last, but not least, NO working ability!! In our opinion, a dog that cannot pass a breed test, temperament test or obtain a schutzhund title should NOT be bred. The Rottweiler is a working breed and we should respect that. People that want a couch-potato dog should buy a Lab or Golden Retriever, not a Rottweiler!! A true Rottweiler is always ready to please his owner, is always ready to work and will protect his family and kids without being dangerous or unpredictable. He is a loyal friend who is ready to share his life with his family.
