Rottweiler: Rottie Itching

In the past week or two, my almost 6yr old female Rottie has been itching like crazy! Nothing dramatic has changed...so I am stumped as to why she is itching so much! I\'ve refused to give her Benadryl but succumbed to it earlier this evening (just one pill) to see if it would make a difference. So far, no luck, but I think I will continue to give her 2 pills (through out the day) tomorrow to see if it helps. Has anyone had this problem? Do you have any advice? |

I have a 1 yr old MALE German Rottweiller, His parents were AKC registered but his mom was on a limited registration so he isnt registered. He has a big wide blocky head and is a gentle loving giant. He likes kids just no other male dogs. He is not nuetured. He loves water. He rescued my son in pool! He won't stay in fence and neighbors worry about him jumping, he does jump but only to play and for love never in aggression. He is a GOOD DOG! He needs a home in the country where he can run and play. I have some photos of him. His name is KOBE (after KOBE BRYANT the basketball star)Kobe comes with his BLOCKYDOGS custom made collar (with his name on it) and several other rottweiller signs, stocking, training book, and more of his things. Please contact me if interested.

Rottweiler: Rottie Arthritis
|
Posted Date: 2008-06-23 15:44:26 By: Adam
I assume because of the Rottweiler's stature, they are proned to arthrits. I have a nine year old female weighing in at 110 - 115lbs. As she has gotten older she has trouble getting up and walking up stairs. She can stand up and do the stairs, it just takes her a while, she'll stop and take a break and then continue on. My guess is it's arthritis. I was wondering if there is any kind of vitamin, prescription med or acupuncture that any other Rottie owner has experience with. Thanks in advance. |
Rottweiler: likes to (play) bite

I am proud owner of a male rotti that is 18 weeks old. he is a great dog, very smart and listens well, except with wanting to bite, not hard but play biting. I am just afraid because sometimes he gets to rough. He thinks my girlfriend is his chew toy, which is not good. I have many chew toys for him and he plays with them, but likes to put her arm in his mouth just as much. He listens to me when I tell him to stop. (most of the time unless really wound up, then it takes a little bit to calm him down) But he will not listen to my girlfriend when she tells him to stop. Is it because of my deeper voice he listens to me? Any help on this matter, (before it becomes a bad habit) would be greatly appreciated. thanks. |

Rottweiler: Rottweiler - Too Young To Adopt?

I am fairly new to rottweilers, but I am looking at adopting one and had a question about her. The people that I am looking to adopt from have a 7 week old female rottweiler. I heard from an unconfirmed source that if you take a young rottwieler away from their mother too early that they may have serious problems or could possibly death. Any truth to this? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Rottweiler: Living with other dogs

Hello. I have a 2.5 year old neutered Rottweiler and I recently moved in to a new house with a roommate who has a neutered Weimeraner. our dogs have had a problem getting along, and I'm looking into options to keep them both safe. Obviously, my concern is for the other dog, as my Rott is much bigger and stronger. I have decided to either install a long chain in the yard, or possibly add on to the existing fence in the backyard and section off part of it for my dog. The only problem is, I don't own the house so I'm not sure if the fence idea will fly. The chain option would be best, but I've heard that chained dogs can become aggressive over time.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! |

I have been reading about distal sensorimotor polyneuropathy. My dog is in a lot of pain... He goes to the vet this evening but would like to go with knowledge in hand about what could possibly be wrong... He has been limping on front right foot for a few days and now finds it difficult to move at all... He has no wounds or sores on his leg.He has a hot spot on his nub (tail) that may or may not have anything to do with this but it seems quite raw... Anyone know about this disease mentioned above. I have read write ups about it but it is not written in"English" lol... Too technical for me... Please help ... My Big boy is 5 yrs old 125lbs and has shown some history of hip problems from time to time....

Rottweiler: Health Question

I'm a relatively new dog owner - a wonderful rotty - but I've got a question. He will only 'do his business' in our backyard. At first, I thought 'cool - I don't have to pick up after him in public'. But last month, my family went on a 2 day vacation (no dogs allowed..), and placed Harley in a kennel (very clean, well maintained). When I brought him home, it literally took several minutes and attempts to empty his bladder! Even on short road trips of a few hours, I'll give him several opportunities to relieve himself, but he will not. Is this a 'vet' issue? Thanks! |

Hi all,
I have a beloved 12 year old Rottweiler named Rocco. He has
recently begun to struggle with arthritis in his back legs and he
already was suffering from the beginnings of congestive heart
failure. Recently however, a friend of mine turned me on to a new
nutritional supplement for dogs called Canine Health Formula. It is
a specific blend of fatty acids known for its antiinflammatory and
heart protecting effects. Since I have started Guinness on this
daily supplement he has been like a new dog. I can't remember the
last time he was able to walk without a limp, and he never seems to
labor anymore. I asked my vet about it and he wholeheartedly
supported my decision to start him on this. Nonetheless, I just
wanted to pass this info along to my fellow dog owners. I definitely
think it is worth a try. Also...my friend actually told me that the
reason he was using it in the first place is the effect it has on
stopping itching from allergies. I don't know much about this
because, luckily, my dog never suffered from them. I ordered mine
off of the website. I will provide the link for any that think that
it may be of help to their dog.

I took in a female Rottweiler from a so called friend that was having problems. The female had been bred to a male I have known for some quite some time. The female gave birth to 10 beautiful pups,5 males and 5 females. The problem I have is both parents are registered but the so called friend cannot be found, therefore I now have no papers for Mom.
Can anyone help me with any other registry other than AKC that are respected for registering this breed.
Thanks in advance. |

Rottweiler: rabies in dogs
|
Posted Date: 2003-04-10 04:04:55 By: nayakutty
Dear friend
I have a genuine doubt about rabies. I would like to know whether the dog, which has vaccinated antirabby, is safe from rabies. Some of the doctors told me we have to vaccinate again if the dog is bitten by a rabid animal. If it is so what is the use of antirabby vaccine.
Is the rabies is originated from the body of dogs itself, without contact of rabid animal, bats, or raccoons.
Some people say if vaccinated a dog antirabby, it will not show the symptoms of rabies though its affected rabies. Is it true?
Please reply

We are trying to get our Rottweiler pregnant. This is our second time trying in the last 6 months. The first time she had a false pregnancy, but never tied with the male. We are using the same male this time. He is a proven dog. My problem is this: Every time he mounts her, he is not entering her, but going off to the side, or below her rectum. Her vagina seems more towards her tummy than towards her rectum and when he mounts her, he is mounting too high. So is missing her completly. I need some ideas as to how to proceed on this. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I've never had this kind of problem with my others. |

It is a 70 question multiple choice test, and I was wondering if anyone would not mind taking a few minuets and taking the test about their dogs. Just emal me at spoonz28@hotmail.com and I would be glad to give you the test.

PLEASE CROSS POST:
Serendipity Rottweiler Rescue, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has filed for incorporation as a 501(c)3 organization. Serendipity Rottweiler Rescue is devoted to rescuing and rehoming Rottweilers in Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. Serendipity also puts great emphasis on educational efforts regarding the breed and responsible pet ownership.
The organization was founded by volunteers who love the breed and believe in giving something back. Its members and volunteers have many years of rescue experience and have participated in several venues of the Rottweiler world including conformation, obedience, agility, carting and herding.
All Rottweilers undergo a thorough temperament evaluation prior to entering the program and during their stay in foster care. All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and completely vetted prior to going to their adoptive home.
Potential adoptive homes undergo a thorough screening process to ensure that the dogs go only to individuals who are responsible and understand the special needs of this breed. Serendipity will provide post-adoption support and educational assistance throughout the lifetime of adopted dogs.
The organization is currently seeking volunteers and foster homes to assist in its educational and rescue efforts. No special skills or experience are required of volunteers - just a big heart, time on one's hands, and desire to help homeless dogs. If you live in Alabama, Georgia or the Florida Panhandle we would love to have you join us!
