Phoenix, I switched breeds after years of German Shepards. I needed a dog that could endure the heat of Fl. I began with a RR. pup and have never been the saw since. I found this breed of hound difficult to train very stbborn, but after the right training and trainer found that she was trainable, faithful, loving, loyal. They do take a few years to come around as most larger dogs do.
I now have two of her pups, the mom has since pasted on. The breed is a wonderful loving breed, full of wanting fun. Easy to keep, wash and wear,
takes the heat, a joy to own, loves to lay at your feet, but not in your face, will give new meaning to the term 'chow hound'. They are a wonderful breed. My girls when I am home at constantly at my side, unless there is an armadillo to punt around, or an intruder of some four leggedness. They are uncanny in their ability to sense who's OK and who\'s not, on the property. They are accepting to all those who are friends. They are solid, muscular, and can pull you down if you are not in the driver's seat.
Mine have learned thier basic good citizenship awards and do well in social circles. If you think you might be in the market for one of these dogs in the future, do the homework, find a good breeder and be prepared for the most wonderful
experence with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, two are better than one. They are a joy for behold.
