I've been hunting for a durable winter snow jacket for Petuno. He loves it when I dress him up to keep him warm. I have a 3 yr old male poodle (he is not fixed)that just (in the past 3 weeks)started wetting on my comforter and throw pillows. He is on meds for crystalls in his urine, but he goes outside every hour if not more to go to the bathroom. I work from home so it is not that he doesn't get the chance to go outside. My 5-year old toy poodle has always been very healthy, active and with a beautiful coat. Last January, three months after his rabies vaccination, he lost a large patch of hair in his back leg (at the injection site). The skin is clean there, and he never bites it. My vet thinks this is a side effect of the vaccination and says nothing can be done. The patch is quite large now (approx. 1 3/4 inches by 1 inch) and there is no sign of hair regrowth. Has anyone else heard of this problem? Is there a way to get the hair to grow back? Thanks.

Hi i'm asking for a friend, She is thinking of getting a female toy poodle and today we went to look at her, she just turned 11 weeks old this past sunday. Now this pup is scratching like crazy, she does not have flea's but she does have like little scabs on her whole body. it does'nt look like dry skin. it looks like she has ear mites also as her ears were nasty. She is constently biteing her feet (well scratching it with her mouth). would any of you know what this could be? Is it hereitary or food related? Got it mixed up. National Agility Trial is on Feb. 9, Sunday night on Animal Planet channel and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is on Feb. 10, Monday night on USA channel. Sorry about that.

This Sunday night is the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on the USA channel on tv. Go Poodles!!!!!! Also Animal Planet channel will have the National Agility Championship trial on Saturday night. Their might be a Poodle on it! Probably a standard or a mini.

My reply to a message would not post for some reason, so am trying it here. Though these are not recognized in the AKC standard, but are registered under Toy by breeders of them, I wish to say that I support this effort. I am older and arthritic and do not want a Chiwauwa. My old Poodle grew to heavy to carry very far on our walks when she got old and arthritic. Now I (like other older Americans who love Poodles) need a smaller light weight dog that can be carried when it is older. We get old with our dogs as well. In time the AKC will change and allow this into the standard as legit. May take a long time, but it will happend. Stick with it.

My 2 y/o toy poodle, white, is getting pinkish discoloration on her left front leg. It looks similar to the color of tear stains by her eyes. She licks that leg now and then but I dont understand why its getting discolored. Any ideas?

Does anyone know when, and how you can tell for sure pups will be blue? I know blues don't change until later in puppy hood, but is there a "marker" that I can look for? Have a litter that is genetically geared toward blue and silver. Pups are 6 weeks now, the biggest girl is silver, the others are staying black, but when they were born had the silver hairs on the bottoms of their feet? Any ideas?

I just found this board today and have saw your message. I hope I'm not too late in responding. My female poodle is 4 years old and has had these since her first cycle, I think that must be about 7 -8 times now. The pregancy lasts 9 full weeks, then she gives false birth (favorite stuffed toy) usually at 3:00am. She is usually a nervous wreck just like any mother of newborns and carries her toy around with her for 3 - 4 weeks. The first few times this happened she wouldn't even eat or go outside, but she's more relaxed now. Good luck.

I just found this board and I have a question regarding the disease mentioned. My toy poodle was just diagnosed with this and I don't know anything about it. Can anyone share any info. She goes in for surgery on Wed. and needless to say I am a nervous wreck. Also, I purchased her at a pet store 4 months ago and they verbally guaranteed any such defects, nothing written down. This surgery plus the diagnosis visit will cost me in excess of $800, plus the cost of her, $400. There is no way I would give her up for anything but shouldn't the pet store or the breeder they got her from be at least partially responsible for some of the costs? Thank you in advance for any words of wisdom.

Hey guys, well like I said I have a male stud and a breeder is wanting to breed her female with my Ch. male. But we are having trouble doing this. My male just finished his CH, he is only 3, and has never been bred. The female is also 3 and has never been bred. She seems to be standing for the male, although sometimes she lays on the ground, or nips at him, but most of the time standing. Yet, he can't seem to get it quiet "in." I don't know what's going on and neither does she, we've never had this happen. Do you guys think it could be the male, or could it be that she just isn't ready. Have any reccomendations to know when they are ready. We have an appt. with the vet next thurs. we don't want to miss the days so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks to all before hand

I need help finding out how to get papers from an owner of a toy poodle. These people have abandoned Him over 6 months ago at a friends house and they refuse to pick him up or give us the rights to him. We have done everything possible to get Him back home but the owners will not responde to any type of mail or anything else. I would even buy Him from them but they won't get in contact with us. WE have gone as far as getting the Sheriff to go to their home and still nothing. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! Thanks

I agree, he smells something. I would seperate them until you are sure she is not in heat.

I have an 8 month old female and a 2 year old male, I don't want to breed them so I want to know when to be careful? Also are there any changes in their attitude? Her vulva seems the same size, except I notice that it is really soft, and he sniffs it a lot lately, could that mean something? Thanks anyone who can answer.

Hi, Hopefully I will be able to explain this! When I feed "Boo" Eucanuba Dry food he gets a tinge of the color brown on his fur. I stopped the food for a few weeks and sure enough it went away. Recently I began feeding him the dry Eucanuba again, sure enough he now has brown highlights. "Boo" is very black otherwise. I spoke to his groomer and she said she has seen this many times. Has anyone out there ever experienced this happening to thier dogs? Thanks for your time. Judy :)

Joan, I guess that if you post what you have to say on another board but our breed you get told to stop fighting. I really dont like what the people on that other board were saying about the poodle, our dogs work just as hard as any other breed just because they can look nice at all times doesnt mean they cant do what every other dog can do. Dont you think? I feel sorry for that poor women who is being stalked by that fool on these boards, but you cant say anything cause the men dont agree. well have a good day.:)
