I am confining my 5 mo Pom whenever I can\'t watch her. When I take her out of the small confined area I take her to the wee wee pad..have had some success and have praise her. I take her there after meals & playtime etc..whenever I think she will go. I am confused sometimes she goes in the two by two ft square area. It only has her bed and the whole bottom is covered with wee wee pads she can ONLY go on the pads so she isn\'t making a mistake..but is she getting the message to go on the wee wee pad when she goes inside her confined area on the wee wee pad? ...sometimes on the morning she has not gone ..I take her out onto a wee wee pad I have outside the confined area ..she goes I praise her..but when I wake up and she has gone in the confined area I am confused as to what to do..take her to the pad still even though she has already gone?...is she understanding in the confined area that wee wee pad is the place to go & when I take her out side & she goes how much of a fuss should I make? |

Can someone PLEASE help me with my two male brother poms who are out of control? They absolutely hate (I think they are actually more scared then hateful)any one outside the family and will bark none stop at them til they leave and sometimes will bite. I have no company due to them. They do not listen to me and I have NO control over them. Can someone suggest a good dog training book or tecnnique that might help me get control of the situation. They are horribly jealous of one another also. I am at wits end with them and need help. They also bark at the tiniest noise throughout the day, they basically bark non-stop and I have a constant headache. We have had them roughly 6 years now. They are house dogs, but I am wanting to fence in our yard next year to let them out, we do give them walks how ever. Thanks for any assistance, we do love them very much, but I feel they are ruining my sanity. |

Thanks so much!!

My boyfriend and I just bought a 4 month old pomeranian from his friend who had bought him from a breeder he found on craigslist. Henny is now 8 months old and I'm a bit confused about his breeding. He is a tri-colored pom who loves the water and is now 12lbs! Everyone we've met say that they've never seen a tri-colored pom before who is as big as him. All the books and articles I've read online don't seem to have any pictures of dogs that look even remotely like him. However, my boyfriend's friend insists that he is a full pomeranian and that his parents and the rest of the litter looked exactly like Henny. I\'ve researched the standard pomeranian's characteristics and Henny seems to match each one to a "T". I am very confused at how unique Henny has become and I guess my question is could there be another breed within a breed, such as a sub-genre? |

Hi, I hope I can get some advice from some of you out there. Our Pom, Bear was 1 on August 10th. He has started to go to the bathroom in the house after being potty trained for awhile now. I initially thought it was due to one of our cats disappearing (the cat was Bears best friend). Then realized that this behavior started about 4 - 5 weeks before the cat even disappeared. Bear can be outside for 20 minutes and then come in and poop on the carpet. He is not lifting his leg on the furniture (thank goodness) but he is doing his "business" in different parts of the house (i.e. in the bedrooms, on the stairs, the couch). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm at a loss for what to do with the regression of his potty behavior. Thanks, Amy |
Pomeranian: Where Not to Buy Pom Puppy
|
Posted Date: 2003-08-26 15:48:01 By: brz3byz
I was sent a very sick male black'n'tan with white in May 2003. He died 6 days later of Cocci, Campylobacter, and a Congenital Liver Deformation.
The Breeder then owed me over $1500.00 for the deceased puppy plus vet bill. She agreed to replace with a better puppy to make up for the vet charges incurred.
I reserved that replacement puppy in July 2003. Watched him grow until ready to ship. Now August 2003, 4 days prior to shipping day, The owner allowed her partner to take my reserved puppy. They won't send my reserved puppy because he turned out to be too QUALITY of a puppy to be wasted as a replacement.
I have no 1st puppy, a large vet bill, and now no 2nd puppy either. These people are dishonest pom people.
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!

My parents just lost a beautiful female Pomeranian of 5 years to Breast Cancer. She was fine and all of a sudden she got very sick and coundn't be saved. My parents are totally devastated and they are looking to adopt another healthy female
Pomeranian preferably under 5 years old. Or if someone doesn't mind giving one away since they don't have alot of money they would greatly appreciate it. Some out there that also can't take care of one, we would provide a very loving home for her like ours had. We live in the South Florida area near Ft. Lauderdale and if you can help my parents at this time of deep loss, please email me at: fllisa@bellsouth.net

Pomeranian: rabies
|
Posted Date: 2003-04-10 04:07:52 By: nayakutty
Dear friend
I have a genuine doubt about rabies. I would like to know whether the dog, which has vaccinated antirabby, is safe from rabies. Some of the doctors told me we have to vaccinate again if the dog is bitten by a rabid animal. If it is so what is the use of antirabby vaccine.
Is the rabies is originated from the body of dogs itself, without contact of rabid animal, bats, or raccoons.
Some people say if vaccinated a dog antirabby, it will not show the symptoms of rabies though its affected rabies. Is it true?
Please reply

Pomeranian: What is a "Breed Standard"?
|
Posted Date: 2003-04-02 02:01:33 By: poetrypoms20
A breed standard is a definition of what a dog is. What it should look like and how it should act. Just like when you look up a word in the dictionary, it explains what the word means, and often how it is used in the language. A breed standard ensures you that the dog you have is really the dog you wanted. Sometimes, due to poor breeding a dog does not fall within the standard very well. This is like using a word in the language out of context. It really doesn't apply and doesn't make sense. A reputable breeder works very hard at UNDERSTANDING the standard and breeds very closely to that standard. Any purebred dog should be very close to the standard designed to differentiate one breed from another. The standard for a chihuahua is far different from the standard of a pomeranian. This makes sense right. Well, this is because of the standard written to make the difference. This seems like an obvious difference. But what about an advertisement offering purebred AKC puppies. How do you know they are quality puppies. Do you think it is because they are AKC that they are quality. The AKC says they don't guarantee quality. Well, who or what does? The answer is the reputable breeder who strives to meet that standard (definition). You have to do your research. Learn the standard. If you are having difficulty understanding the standard don't hesitate to ask questions of several breeders to help you decifer it. You can sometimes determine a reputable breeder by their vast knowledge of the standard. But be sure to talk to several breeders before you can be sure. |
Pomeranian: Buyer BEWARE

|
Posted Date: 2003-04-02 01:44:29 By: poetrypoms20
The saying buyer beware definatley applies when buying a purebred dog. NEVER go by just what a person might say. ALWAYS do your research. Research the breed and several breeders of the dog you choose. Read and get to KNOW the breed standard. The standard is like a definition in a dictionary. It explains exactly what the dog should look like. It is designed to differentiate one breed from another. Even a pet quality dog should not fall very far from the standard. Never settle for less. Take the time to ask ALOT of questions to become an informed, educated and knowlegeable buyer. It will save you and your puppy years of heartache. |

Looking for a breeder who has a older cream brood who is nearly ready for retirement but with a couple more breedings left. Must be quality and produce show pups. Preferrably from the Kim Kara/Blitzen line, but not necessary as long as quality.
I would want to breed her to a quality cream CH male of your choice (I will pay stud service, up to $400) and give you pick of litter in exchange for your older girl. Please leave a post or email me privately at poetrypoms2000@yahoo.com |
Pomeranian: Show vs Pet
|
Posted Date: 2003-01-11 17:46:43 By: poetrypoms20
If you are looking for a show quality pom, please, please do your research first. The dog must come very, very close to the standard as set forth by the American Pomeranian Club. Sometimes a standard is hard to decifer. If you have any questions about the pomeranian standard please feel free to contact me. This advice goes for pet quality too. A pet quality dog should not wain far from the standard either. The standard is designed to ensure a sound, quality, healthy dog. Even a pet should be a sound, quality, healthy dog. Do yourself and your future dog a huge favor and do your research. |
