hi, i'm the proud owner of Clyde, he's a two year old cattle dog mix, we believe he is mixed with husky and possibly corgi?? he actually looks just like the dog on this website except he's more black on the body. we adopted clyde when he was 13 weeks old, every since, people tell us that he seems so skittish, is this a trait of the acd?? we have never put him in a situation to scare him so i'm curious if something may have happened before we got him to make him this way. Also, he use to be very friendly with other dogs when we would walk, now it seems that he lurks down real low and wants to get them, this all began after puppy school when he wanted to herd the entire class of 20 dogs, thanks for any input or advice on how to help clyde.... melissa |
Australian Cattle Dog: 3 ACD puppies

I got my foster's a little early. They are a handful, but so cute. To me they look purebred, if mixed probably with Australian Shepard. If any wants to see picture go to furryfriendrescue.org, and go to find a pet then puppies. I have Oscar, Jack, and Cedar. Maybe you can tell me what you think they're ACD or not. Their 4 weeks in that pic.

Hello,
In about two weeks I will be fostering three 6 week old ACD mix puppies. They are so cute, but what should I be expecting? The mom is very sweet. and we don't know the dad. I will have them add least 2 weeks, until they get adopted at 8 weeks. Any advice helps.
Take Care,

Australian Cattle Dog: Tornado ride!

Posted Date: 2003-06-16 14:01:51 By: jonanak
On May 8, 2003 our Blue Heeler, Boca, rode through a tornado with my husband and cat. Our home was completely destroyed and moved about 100 feet. When my husband climbed out of the rubble, he found her standing at the top of the pile, looking down on him. She, nor my husband or the cat were injured. We are pretty lucky. She seems to be doing okay, but whenever it storms she hides, which she has never done before and she will not leave me or my husbands side. We are staying with family, and this could be some of it, but we don't have anything of hers from our home, to make her more comfortable in her new surroundings. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Australian Cattle Dog: illegal sex club
|
Posted Date: 2003-02-18 21:25:50 By: sparrow2003
ozzy osbourne involved with secret sex club?
ozzy osbourne is involved with a secret illegal sex club ring that involves the pushing of innocent women into sex and maybe even exploitation of young girls (as young as twelve years old) with the use of illegal implantation of transmitters by the (cia) government to use hypnosis and even torture to persuade women to exploit themselves and/or have sex with them.
this sex ring is not only immoral but they also endanger the health and lives of these women until they give in or become fat and unhealthy. they use many different methods of torture, such as putting them in pain, causing phony asthma attacks, ruining their skin, and interfering with their normal routine in life, ensuring failure at these women's endeavors. he tells the women afterwards, even if they have been tortured, humiliated and brutally treated for as long as twenty years, that he doesn't give a crap and they even threaten them with medical problems as serious as heart attacks. all because these women have been raised well enough that they will not give in to being prostitutes for the rich and beligerent famous.
their excuse for this is that they are to old to infatuate too many good looking women and they want to use the transmitters to fool the women into thinking they are in love with them because they don't want women that are just going to have sex with them for their money.

I am doing a project for school on dog intelligence, and thought it would be a good idea to include results form a test of my own, and to see if my results of different breed intelligence match what the experts say. It is a 70 question multiple choice test, and I was wondering if anyone would not mind taking a few minuets and taking the test about their dogs. Just emal me at spoonz28@hotmail.com and I would be glad to give you the test.
Thanks,

Help help!
1. Paper shredding-how to really discourage and WILL he outgrow it?
2. Best teaching method(s) info?
3. We are a home, not a working ranch. He will need to have duties to keep him busy...any suggestions?
4. His new home is with my old dog, a coonhound/german shepherd mix, Sam, who is approx 12 yrs old (our time) and a fairly well trained intelligent dog (except for treat guarding) altho rather aged. Sam had been a 6 month old lost abuse victim when I found him, and he is doing very well indeed. Will they manage OK together as Sam gets older?
5. How do I keep my Blue out of the garden?
6. How do I stop him from chewing on wood bits, grass and plastic flower pots, empty or not? |

I recently rescued a female blue heeler (about 11 months old) from my local animal shelter. After getting her home and working/playing with her we found that she is deaf.
We do not have cattle, so she will not be used as a working dog. Insteed she will be a companion to our family. Does anyone have any information about training deaf animals with hand and body signals?

We have adopted a dog they called a heeler. What is the difference between an ACD and a Heeler? He is a lovely dog we plan on doing flyball with him, he is a quick study and has already learned the game in just 1 practice. He is great with people and other dogs.
Thanks

Australian Cattle Dog: house training
|
Posted Date: 2000-05-29 21:05:00 By: Allen
My pups are both just over four months. I have been crate training them, one for three months, the other for two. They will urinate and deficate in the floor if we leave them out of their crate for over 20-30 minutes even though we these 20 and 30 minute free times always follow outside pottying (successfully). Why do they not learn? I have many friends with dogs who have run of the home at all times and they never use the house floor for a toilet. How long before this habit stops? The crate works, in that they will not toilet in it and that they will toilet immediately upon leaving it and going outside. This is not what I want though. I want to reach a point where they can be left out in the home for an hour or so at a time and eventually even longer. We have been so diligent in our efforts with consistency including our feeding schedule and all. We are getting very frustrated. The guys provide very little companionship for us in the home, as they have to stay in the crate |

Our 4 year old also has bitten. Yesterday, a nasty neighbor boy (he teases through the fence) was over and she went toward him and snapped at him. she didnt draw blood or anything, but i am at a loss. i dont want to put her to sleep, but have too many kids here all of the time to take any chances. what do you suggest. we have tried to find a home where she can get more exercise and attention. we have not been able to do all of it for her recently. i know that is part of the problem. she isnt spayed, but i have been told that it wont help her breed. she is an outside dog and very protective of the family. everything i read on these message boards is true to her behavior. i need to find a home for her...any suggestions on the biting? Thanks
