Pekes Personality

I was hoping to attain some info on Pekes from actual owners than from books. Although I have read Peke books. I would like to know if, in general, pekes tolerate larger dogs. I have 2 dogs (55lbs, and 65lbs), I own my condo, and I have no children, significant other, or cats. Do Pekes do well with well mannered larger dogs or are pekes really into challenging largr dogs. Many of the small terriers and many small dogs enjoy the challenge of large dogs. My dogs are obedience and agility trained so they are very well behaved dogs. My youngest especially likes small dogs.

I would also like to know if pekes are very barky. I dont mind the bark when someone rings the doorbell etc.. but do pekes like to bark just to hear their bark?? Many, many small breeds do so I was just wondering how barky they are?

I think that is it for the moment. If someone has a better suggestion on small breeds I would like to hear it. No JRT or TFT suggestions they will drive me nuts.

I HAVE OWNED PEKINESES FOR 15 YEARS AND THEY ARE MY FAVORITE. I HAVE OWNED ALOT OF DIFFERENT BREEDS ALSO AND I JUST BOUGHT A FEMALE PARTY PEKE, ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO AND SHE IS JUST THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. YES SHE OCCASSIONALLY BARKS BUT NOT JUST TO HEAR HERSELF. WE ALSO HAVE 2 BASSETT HOUNDS AND YES SHE IS THE BOSS. THEY TOLERATE HER VERY WELL. BUT SHE IS NOT AFRAID OF ANY DOG NO MATTER THE SIZE. SHE THINKS ALL DOGS SHOULD PLAY WITH HER THEREFORE WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE OTHER DOGS ARE AS TOLERANT OF HER AS THE BASSETTS WE HAVE.SHE IS GROWN AND HAS BEEN SPAYED AND WEIGHS ONLY 6 1/2 POUNDS BUT SHE THINKS SHE IS BIG. GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE ON A PEKE, THEY ARE TRULY A WONDERFUL DOG.

My two Pekes bark at the TV and neither do well with other animals at all.
