I have two wonderful Elkies that I found on-line from Elkie rescue sites and now am on another quest. As a retiree I have been pricing Frontline on the Internet to see if I can get better price than from vet but am leery of buying from untried sites. Was wondering if anyone out there would recommend reputable places to purchase. Thank you

We're interested in purchasing a Norwegian Elkhound but haven't decided whether a puppy or older dog is the best choice. My husband is a hunter and would like to train the dog to hunt with him; we also want family dog. I think this is the right breed for our needs. Which is the better choice? We have one child, a 7 year old -- she's very gently. We have a home and small backyard but alot of nature trails nearby to hike on. Any suggestions? Anyone in the Montana area?

chatt. tn. lookinf for male or female elkhound,,, having trouble finding in the southeast u.s. .... please help

we have 2 elkhounds, both 5 years old. recently, one of them has begun to chew my walls. I realize it is because of boredom, lack of attention, or spite, but I cant catch her in the act. It happens at night, and she is very quiet. Weve tried balls, chewies etc., but she shows no interest. Any suggestions???

Does anyone have any information as to Elkhound breeders in the Colorado area? We have an 8-year old female and are trying to find a female puppy, but we havent had much luck locating breeders or in getting them to return phone calls. Id be grateful for any info. Thanks.

We are looking for a female Elkhound puppy. We lost our last one after 15 wonderful years and really miss her. We are in Columbus, Ohio. Let me know if any are available.

Have you tried looking at 123ezdog website? I believe there is a kennel in colorado. They breed once in a while. You may also try putting your name on a list with your local SPCA, I have placed ELkies who are no longer wanted that show up in their kennel. You may also want to go to your local pet shop or even your local kennel club if they have an upcoming event/show you would be able to make face to face contact with the Elkie owners. The AKC can also let you know about breeders listed with them. And as a last resort, contact local vets in your area. My husbands first Elkie came from our vet.

My Casey Is Very LARGE AROUND THE "WAIST" line. We had her spayed a few months ago and she has gotten very chubby. Her food intake is not anymore than it used to be. Her coat is perfectly shiny and soft, she is not shedding or looking abnormal in anyway other than heavier. Should you have had the smae problem with your female elkie please let me know what your options were/are. Our vet wants to put her on a diet and do about a $200.00 worth of testing. She is worth it, but I just want other input before we go there.

We have a 17-month old female elkhound who has +4glucose in her urine and a bad bladder infection. The breeder says she has renal glucosuria, a benign condition, and the vet says its possible she has Franconi Syndrome which could be fatal. Please help with info about both and how can we tell the difference. Thank you!!
