The Labrador Retriever originated in England when a select number of breeders attempted to create the perfect gundog. This breed combines stamina and working ability with a cheerful affable temperament, making it a perfect hunting dog and family pet.

The Labrador is a high-energy dog that enjoys a wide variety of activities. They should be trained from an early age or they can become bored and destructive. They are intelligent and eager to please and will do well in obedience, agility, fetch, swimming, pretty much any activity they can do with their owners. They are even-tempered and take most situations in stride. They have a double coat which helps repel water, and will shed twice a year. Labs are happiest when they have a purpose or a job to do.
