The English Springer Spaniel is aptly named, it is a dog that seems to be "springing" with joy and enthusiasm. This breed needs plenty of exercise daily to keep them from building up nervous energy. Their coat should be brushed out once a week and their ears should be cleaned frequently. They are willing participants in obedience exercises and are good candidates for agility, frisbee or jogging. Springers make good watch dogs but not guard dogs, they welcome strangers with their tail wagging.
