The English Cocker Spaniel's typical temperament is merry and affectionate. An extremely well-mannered dog, they are wonderful with children and other animals. They need an outlet for their energy but can adapt easily to apartment living. Their coat is not quite as long as the American Cocker and needs to be brushed once a week. This breed loves people and will not appreciate being left outdoors. They will bark to alert you to a stranger's presence but are more likely to jump up and kiss an intruder than to protect your property.
