The Westie is an outgoing friendly dog, they love to be around people. They get along with other dogs better than most terriers, but still retain the instinct to chase down small animals. They are eager to please and fairly easy to train. They are active but can get sufficient exercise indoors. They are quite protective of their family and make good watch dogs.
